Time to get some more swivel snaps for trolling Rapala’s with Fire Line. What size and kind do you use? They make a snap swivel, Cross Lock and a Duo-lock. The snap come in a rounded lock style and a more triangle snap.

Can’t go wrong with #2 Crosslocks. I hear Eric Rehberg uses them. (Don’t tell anyone on the internet!) Seriously, that’s what I go w/ day in and day out.

Does using a swivel have a negative affect? I have been using snap swivels every time I have trolled.

I think it does. There’s no need for the swivel. Swivels are designed to reduce line twist caused when lures spin in the water. Crankbaits don’t spin. If they do… you’ve got some tuning to do.

Here’s a refresher on tuning cranks. ‘Tis the season with all the night trolling going on. Like I always tell guide customers… success is all about having a properly tuned lure and trolling speed.

I thought that was top secert news and now you told everyone oh thats right I already did

Like James mentioned I see no need a for a swivel. If using a swivel it gives the lure more of a chance to twist to the sides causing it to run out of line or start running out to the sides. If that happens you arent catching fish. No need for them and you will save a little money with just the snaps.
