Seeing how there hasn’t been a report on the fishing conditions below the Nekoosa dam on the Wisconsin river yet, I thought I would post a little info…..Bite has been steady with lots of “just shorts” and “slotters” being caught. Water level and temp. are changing daily with gates being opened and closed continuously. Many people are going twards the dam from the landing and anchoring near shore by current breaks and eddys. Mostly running slip sinker rigs and 3 ways. Hair jigs and crainks are also working but must be worked SLOW. It’s always a good time but be sure to give other boaters and shore anglers some room; it’s always crowed and tempers sometimes flair. If you don’t have a boat don’t worry…lots of big fish being caught from shore also. Sunday there was a guy that came in to the bait shop on Wood ave. showing pictures of 2 fish over the 28″ slot he had caught the night before. Remember the free tourney with the $2000 top prize for longest fish.Stay safe, have fun, and make sure you have all your life jackets, fire extinguishers, lights, etc. Police are checking every boat at both landings.
