Hey all time has taken a toll on a Clam , and I’m looking for ways I can repair the tent. I’m sure everyone has had to deal with holes in the tent at some point so any pointers on the best way to repair it would be great. hopefully can get a new one in a few more years. Just too many expenses coming up though to do it now.

I’ll be doing some canvas repair to mine this offseason. I picked up a clam liscense holder in the bargain cave. It’ll be plenty of fabric to cover the 5 or so wear spots I have going which are all in the bottom 2′ of fabric. I’ll be removing the canvas from the sled, bring it inside and use the sewing machine, this will also be a good time to give the canvas a thorough cleaning/treatment. The repair “should” be almost unnoticable. I think sewing it is the way to go.

I’m not really a sewer, I can handle doing small personal projects but, that sounds a little more than I’d like to tackle, be responsible for.

Speaking of broken windows, my bud bought a new portable, the very first thing he did was bring it to his neighbor, who does this sort of sewing and had the plastic windows removed and sewed mesh in place and velcro all the way around, no air gaps. Pretty slick and looks factory. I could get you in contact with him, but he is on the range, it would be cheaper to find someone local I’d think.

My clam is 13 years old and has about a dozen small patches on it.Tried a lot of different ways, neighbor lady told me to try some liquid thread. Works great. Have yet to have a patch let lose and its real easy to use. Zippers also went out on doors, had a hard time finding somebody to replace them and when I did they wanted almost what I paid for it. Put velcro on where zippers where and it works pretty good. Sewed it a little bit and used liquid thread and its held up for 4 years now.

I just replaced my cover for my Fish Trap Pro for $60.00.

It had gotten burned by my Mr. Heater when a big wind gust came along. I have never had any luck with patches. Clam Corp

247 – I had a small clean slice in my Fish Trap Pro and someone turned me on to cloth glue from a fabric store. While I was there I found a material that was nearly the same density and color. It’s been 2 years since the repair and it looks like new. Stop by a local fabric store and see what they carry. It’s a very inexpensive repair. I put the shack in my basement to make sure the cloth was room temp for a couple days while the glue set. Good luck,

The mice chewed mine up about 5 years ago. Had my FW sew old pieces of blue jeans over the holes and it has worked great. Worst part was they chewed up a zipper. Local fabric places didn’t have one big enough. Found one online was cheap and worked just wonderful. Now I know why I bought that $800 sewing machine.

Thanks for the info guys. I was going to ask the same question today. Mice got my Clam as well. Looks like cloth glue and a small patch is the way to go.

cloth glue, and patch it is. Unless I can sweet talk the Mother in-law into sewing check for my next post coming soon. What is the best way to get your mother in-law to sew patches on your clam?
