I am looking at buying a 2003 Ranger 617 with a 125 merc engine and a full glass windshield. I do not know how big this boat will actually fish as it is small for a glass boat. Someone with experience in a similar rig give me an idea as to what you think. Thanks in advance

Did you happen to see this boat at Crystal Pierz? I know a little about this boat.

Will fish 2 guys with all your gear great. Add in number 3 and it gets crowded real fast. That boat handles big water fine for a 17 footer. I’m not a fan of the full glass windshields. Seen too many break. Also, that boat is rated for a 150HP. You will be disappointed in not having that extra 25hp.

Yeah, it is at crystal pierz, but i have only seen e-mails and am wondering if I even want to go look. I think it may be a little small and will look for a 618 without the glass windshield as they take up alot of room

Depending on the year, the 618’s are more of a bass boat in my opinion. Not enough dead rise in the hull to handle big water. Still a 2 person boat even with a single console.

I had a 1775 lund pro v with dual counsels. I loved the boat as long as you were fising two people. Like stated above, add a third and it gets tight real fast. This boat handled any water I threw at it Mille Lacs, Rainy, etc. I looked at a 617, very nice boats, but short on room. If you are fishing more than two guys and big water I personally reccomend a 19 or 20 footer. Good luck with your search
