My family and I are planning a four day get away weekend to Gooseberry Falls I will not be able to bring my boat as we will be pulling the camper. Looking for info on good shore fishing opportunities in the area and any other tips for things to check out for family activities. Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

If you are shore fishing in or near ANY designated trout stream or lake, you need a trout stamp! No matter what you are fishing for.
Split Rock Lighthouse is pretty cool if you have never seen it up close.

My family and I just returned from Gooseberry last weekend.
We visited both Gooseberry and Split Rock Lighthouse in one day. It was a fun trip, we took lots of photos, and most of all, spent quality time together.
In Duluth, we went on a train ride, visited Great Lakes Abyss, and took a cruise on the Vista King. After all that, we enjoyed two nights at The Edge Waterpark. 
As for shore fishing, you might try the French River area. We stopped there at the DNR Headquaters, that was interesting too.
There is a beautiful boat ramp/park in Two Harbors by the mini lighthouse. I would think you could shorefish there.

If your in duluth at anytime theres a road off the main drag called occidential road aka seven bridges road its best to bike it but car is fine stop at a few of the bridges great place for photos much better scenery than goosberry also the view from hawk ridge is breattaking. Its just a good stop for a family. The bridges are arch rock.
