Split Rings / Lure Action ????

We’ve all heard and read about changing the size of the hooks on a crank bait to have better results, but has anyone ever experimented with changing the size split rings holding the hooks to improve, or shall I say, “free up” the action of a lure?

It seems to me that if you have larger split rings, the lure would be able to wobble easier, and wider than with a smaller split ring.

I find exactly what you have noted. Split rings provide more wobble to the bait. Depending on the situation, they can be good. I remove them from my Rapalas, but keep them on Reef Runners for instance. I like the nice tight running of a Shad Rap. I should note that I use the Norman Quick Clips on all of my crank baits. It is almost a split ring by design.
