I just went down to the pool 2 494 ramp this morning to see if Gutpile and I could get out later this week and it is all clear. There is a bit of ice on the ramp where the water meets the ramp but nothing to stop anyone from launching a big boat even.
As far as for the gate its down and no where to be seen. they did put up a stop light to controll traffic so there is no body meeting head on on the small road and getting stuck on the track. It must be on a timer so if you have to wait it will only be a short time.
If you make it out please let me or US (IDA)know how you do.

    Hextap,

Thanks for the update. It took us a couple hours last week to clean the ramp out, but I am glad we did. Now we can all enjoy this warm weather without questioning the ramp.

I will be down several times this week.
I should have a report up by the end of the week.

Good luck if/when you get out.

    Hey Steve!
Are you gonna pull the Ranger through that narrow pass? If you get that through than I know that my Mr. Pike isn’t too wide. I don’t think it is; but it makes me nervous. Good luck sir!

    DD,

I was thinking about dragging the Ranger down this week, but I have a few maintenance things to work on before I get it wet again. So, I will be in the jon boat again thi week. If the weather holds, I may have the Ranger out by the weekend.

As for the narrow road, you can fit your boat no problem. I looked real close while I was going through there and felt I had more than enough room for my Ranger. ITs tight, but not that tight.
    Bring her down!!

I don’t know when you were down there last but they have the road coming under the bridge looping to the right so you head straight into the narrow road. Hope that helps you out.

    Mike,

Thats got to be a pretty cool sight!
One evening I was making my way back to the ramp near dusk running full tilt in the Ranger and out in front of me just a little ways looked like a bunch of stumps floating in the main channel where I have never seen them before. I backed off ASAP and veered off to the side and just missed 6 deer swimming to shore. After I soiled myself, I re-grouped and watched them swim the rest of the way from a respective distance. Awesome sight!

I’m feeding wild turkeys, deer, and raccoons in my back yard. My backyard also happens to be up against Dakota county parkland. It’s pretty cool watching the wildlife with the St. Paul skyline in the background.

Wildlife is very adaptive. We live in Circle Pines, right in the center of a residential area. My wife feeds, 3 raccoons, 1 red fox, 1 opossum, and we have a very large doe that eats at our bird feeding table. Mind you this is not near any forests, swamps, or nature reserves. She sets the food out on the concrete slab next to the patio, and we sit in the kitchen, with lights out, and watch them come up to eat at about an hour after dark. The coons look like potbelly pigs they are so fat. Nature is wonderous, isn’t it?
