Charlie Daniels Speaks !!

Here is an e-mail I received the other day, not sure if Charlie Daniels is the real author or not but it sounds like him, an interesting read anyway.

    Quote:

Once again Charlie Daniels speaks his feelings and once again he is
right on the money. Charlie needs to be writing for a major news
    magazine.

The Straight Scoop from Charlie Daniels

I’ve just returned from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba Naval Air Station
    base
where we did three shows for the troops and toured several locations
around the post visiting with some of the finest military personnel
    on
planet earth. The kids seemed to really enjoy the shows and
    especially
liked “This Ain’t No Rag, It’s A Flag” and “In America”. We had a
    great
    time with them.

We saw Camp X-Ray, where the Taliban detainees are being held only
from a distance, but I picked up a lot of what’s going on there from
talking with a lot of different people.

The truth of the matter is that this operation is under a
    microscope.
The Red Cross has an on site presence there and watches everything
    that
goes on very closely. The media is not telling you the whole truth
    about
what’s going on over there. The truth is that these scum bags are not
only being treated humanely, but they are probably better off
    healthwise
and medically than they’ve ever been in their lives. They are fed
    well,
able to take showers and receive state of the art medical care. And
    have
their own Moslem chaplain. I saw several of them in a field hospital
ward where they were being treated in a state of the art medical
    facility.

Now let’s talk about the way they treat our people. First of all,
    they
have to be watched constantly. These people are committed and wanton
murderers who are willing to die just to kill someone else. One of
    the
doctors told me that when they had Taliban in the hospital the staff
    had
to really be careful with needles, pens and anything else which
    could
possibly be used as a weapon. They also throw their excrement and
    urine
on the troops who are guarding them. And our guys and gals have
    shown
great restraint in not retaliating. We are spending over a million
dollars a day maintaining and guarding these nasty killers and
    anyone
who wants to see them brought to the U.S.A. for trial is either out
    of
their heads or a lawyer looking for money and notoriety. Or both.

I wish that the media and the Red Cross and all the rest of the
    people
who are so worried about these criminals would realize that this is
    not
a troop of errant Boy Scouts. These are killers of the worst kind.
    They
don’t need protection from us, we need protection from them. If you
don’t get anything else out of this soapbox, please try to realize
    that
when you see news coverage much of the time you’re not getting the
    whole
story, but an account filtered through a liberal mindset with an
    agenda.

We have two fights on our hands, the war against terror and the one
against the loudmouthed lawyers and left wing media who would sap the
strength from the American public by making us believe that we’re
    losing
the war or doing something wrong in fighting it. Remember these are
    the
same people who told us that Saddam Hussein’s Republican guard was
    going
to be an all but invincible enemy and that our smart bombs and other
weapons were not really as good as the military said that they were.

They also took up for Bill Clinton while he was cavorting around
    the
Oval office with Monica Lewinsky while the terrorists were gaining
strength and bombing our Embassies and dragging the bodies of dead
American heroes around the dusty streets of Somalia. It’s a shame
    that
we can’t have an unbiased media who would just report the truth and
    let
us make up our own minds.

Here I must commend Fox News for presenting both sides much better
    than
the other networks. They are leaving the other cable networks in the
dust. People like being told the truth.

Our military not only needs but deserves our support. Let’s give it
    to
    them.

The next time you read a media account about the bad treatment of
    the
Taliban in Cuba, remember what I told you. Been there done that.

Footnote: I got an e-mail from a rather irate first cousin of mine
    the
other day who has a daughter who’s a lawyer and she seemed to think
    that
I was painting all lawyers with the same brush. Please understand
    that
I’m not doing that at all. That would be like saying that all
    musicians
were drug addicts. There are a lot of good and honest attorneys out
there. I happen to have one of them. But it seems that they never get
    any
airtime. It’s always the radicals who get their opinions heard, who
    fight
the idea of the military tribunals and cite The Constitution and the
integrity of America as their source of justifying their opinions.
Well, first of all The Constitution says “We the people of the
    United
States”, it doesn’t mention any other country.

And secondly as far as integrity is concerned, I don’t think some
    of
these folks would know integrity if it bit them in the posterior.

What do you think? God Bless America.
    Charlie Daniels

P.S. send this to everyone you can…the truth needs to be told.

I agreed with everything he said until he started bashing Bill Clinton. He made it sound like that was all that President Clinton done was sex in the oval office. Lots of presidents played golf for relaxation during there spare time. Bill Clinton had sex.

Bill Clinton done a very good job of leading this country while being subjected to harassment for his sex life for almost 8 years.

On the other hand after 9-11 I could not think of a better president to have in office than W Bush.

You don’t need to agree with everything a president does to feel he done a good job.

If Bill Clinton was running for President this last election instead of Jane Fonda’s friend he would have won

Granted, Clinton may have done some good things in office, but having sex in the oval office isn’t all that he did. He committed adultry and lied to America about it…For some reason, people seem to overlook that aspect of it…

I don’t agree with all the Bush Bashing that goes on..but w/a Liberal media, that’s all i’m gonna hear/read about. If Kerry had been elected, you wouldn’t have heard one stink about the inagural balls he was attending and the money that goes along with them….These exremists don’t have anything better to do than scrutize Bush’s every move. It gets old..

Sorry…political tangent….Whole point….We shouldn’t be scrutinizing our soldiers for they do during a time of WAR…These terrorist in my mind don’t fall under the same laws as a regular army POW would…Why?? b/c they aren’t part of an organized government army…They are terrorists, and in my mind, have no rights..

There is alot more we need to thank the Clintons for. Here is a letter a man wrote some time ago that pretty much sums up the Clinton Legend!!

    ___________________________________________________________

Dear Mr. Ex President Clinton and Hillary:

I recently saw a bumper sticker that said, “Thank me, I voted for Clinton-Gore.” So, I sat down and reflected on that, and I am sending my “Thank you” for what you have done, specifically:

    1. Thank you for introducing us to Jennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, Monica Lewinsky, Dolly Kyle Browning, Kathleen Willey, and Juanita Broderick. Did I leave anyone out?

    2. Thank you for teaching my 8 year old about oral sex. I had really planned to wait until he was a little older to discuss it with him, but now he knows more about it than I did as a senior in college.

    3. Thank you for showing us that sexual harassment in the work place especially the White House) and on the job is OK, and all you have to know is what the meaning of “is” is. It really is great to know that certain sexual acts are not sex, and one person may have sex while the other one does NOT have sex.

    4. Thank you for reintroducing the concept of impeachment to a new generation and demonstrating that the ridiculous plot of the movie “Wag the Dog” could be plausible after all.

    5. Thanks for making Jimmy Carter look competent, Gerald Ford look graceful, Richard Nixon look honest, Lyndon Johnson look truthful, and John Kennedy look moral.

    6. Thank you for the 73 House and Senate witnesses who have pled the 5th Amendment and 17 witnesses who have fled the country to avoid testifying about Democratic campaign fund raising.

    7. Thank you, for the 19 charges, 8 convictions, and 4 imprisonment’s from the Whitewater “mess” and the 55 criminal charges and 32 criminal convictions so far) in the other “Clinton” scandals.

    8. Thanks also for reducing our military by half, “gutting” much of our foreign policy, and flying all over the world on “vacations” carefully disguised as necessary trips.

    9. Thank you, also, for “finding” millions of dollars (I really didn’t need it in the first place, and I can’t think of a more deserving group of recipients for my hard-earned tax dollars) for all of your globe-trotting. I understand you, the family and your cronies have logged in more time aboard Air Force One than any other administration.

    10. Now that you’ve left the White House, thanks for the 140 pardons of convicted felons and indicted felons-in-exile. We will love to have them rejoin society. (Not to mention the scores you pardoned while Governor of Arkansas)

    11. Thanks also for removing the White House silverware. I’m sure that Laura Bush didn’t like the pattern anyway. Also, enjoy the housewarming gifts you’ve received from your “friends.”

    12. Thanks to you and your staff in the West Wing of the White House for vandalizing and destroying government property on the way out. I also appreciate removing all of that excess weight (China, silverware, linen, towels, ash
trays, soap, pens, magnetic compass, flight manuals, etc.) out of Air Force 1. The weight savings means burning less fuel, thus less tax dollars spent on jet fuel. Thank you!

    13. And finally, please ensure that Hillary enjoys the $8 million dollar advance for her upcoming “tell-all” book and you, Bill, the $10 million advance for your memoirs. Who says crime doesn’t pay!

    14. The last and most important point – thank you for forcing Israel to let Mohammed Atta go free. Terrorist pilot Mohammed Atta blew up a bus in Israel in 1986. The Israelis captured, tried and imprisoned him. As part of the Oslo agreement with the Palestinians in 1993, Israel had to agree to release so-called “political prisoners”. However, the Israelis would not release any with blood on their hands. The American President at the time, Bill Clinton,
and his Secretary of State, Warren Christopher, “insisted” that all prisoners be released. Thus Mohammed Atta was freed and eventually thanked the US by flying an airplane into Tower One of the World Trade Center. This was reported by many of the American TV networks at the time that the terrorists were first identified.

It was censored in the US from all later reports. Why shouldn’t Americans know the real truth?

    What a guy!!

If you agree that the American public must be made aware of these facts, pass this on. God bless America and THANK YOU (once again) for spending my taxes so wisely and frugally.

    SINCERELY,
    A US Citizen

PS. Please pass along a special thank you to Al Gore for “inventing” the Internet, without which I would not be able to send this wonderful, factual e-mail.

AND THE REST OF THE STORY

Hillary Rodham Clinton, as a New York State Senator, now comes under the “Congressional Retirement and Staffing Plan,” which means that even if she never gets reelected, she STILL receives her Congressional salary until she
dies. Would it not be nice if all Americans were pension eligible after only 4 years?)

If Bill outlives her, he then inherits HER salary until HE dies. He is already getting his Presidential salary until he dies. If Hillary outlives Bill, she also gets HIS salary until she dies. Guess who pays for that?

    WE DO!

It’s common knowledge that in order for her to establish NY residency, they purchased a million dollar-plus house in upscale Chappaqua, New York.

    Makes sense.

They are entitled to Secret Service protection for life. Still makes sense.

Here is where it becomes interesting. Their mortgage payments hover at around $10,000 per month. BUT, an extra residence HAD to be built within the acreage to house the Secret Service agents.

The Clintons charge the Federal government $10,000 monthly rent for the use of that extra residence, which is just about equal to their mortgage payment. This means that we, the taxpayers, are paying the Clinton’s salary, mortgage, transportation, safety and security, as well as the salaries for their 12 man staff — and, this is all perfectly legal!

When she runs for President, will you vote for her?

Whats worse a kid learns about sex or Bush sends kids to Iraq to die to fight a war that never should of been started. Both are bad, but i think a kid learning about life is not near as bad as losing a life over what turned out to be a lie. A lie that is a little more costly than clintons lie of adultry.

Clinton never won a majority of the vote. He got about 41% the first time (and would not have beaten G(HW)Bush). The second time, he got about 48%, I think (if memory serves). Both times, thanks to H.Ross Perot. Democrats don’t really do all that well unless we do split our vote. Besides Clinton, How many two term Democrats have been in the Whitehouse? FDR for sure but who else? How many times have they actually won the popular vote? Woodrow Wilson won but Teddy Roosevelt ran as an independant to try to un-seat the Republican, Taft. Kennedy lost the popular vote but won the electoral college against Nixon (lots of papa Joe involved with that one!). You have to go back 40 yrs to Johnson to find a popular vote “mandate” as big as the one Geo W just got, heck, Jimmy Carter won with only 50.1%!

    Democrats like war, too… Wilson-WW1, FDR-WW2, Truman-Korea, Kennedy-Vietnam, Johnson-War on Poverty, Clinton-Kosovo.

Now I’ll go back to thinking about fishing….

I just picked up a fantastic book at B. Dalton called “Flyfishers Guide to Minnesota” by Mickey O. Johnson. This is fantastic – – mainly because it does not instruct too much about fly fishing but, more because it describes in great detail how to access and where fishing is best for all species – – lakes, streams and rivers all over the state. Check it out!

You people should take a couple deep ones and CHILL. I heard all this before the election. W Bush is our President and we should all back him and our troops. It also wasn’t Bill Clinton who put his Sex life before your children. I remember a man named Starr doing that. If him and his friends would have let the President(the people elected) do his job things would have been much better. Now I just hope we all let President Bush do his job. Those detainees are criminals and should be treated as criminals.. No one can say they are not very bad men. In 4 more years I hope the whole country backs President and vice president Clinton. Until then lets disagree on what fish is the best.

We treat them like kids in every state in the union. We don’t let them buy beer or lottery tickets, because they are not old enough to make that decision until they are 21. That is the kind of laws your politicians make.

Slop I’m a Dem. and the Bush bashing is old,I have my opions, but I try not to use them to bash the current pres,
but I think we can all agree that the Clinton commits Charlie made has nothing to do with what state the prisoners are in, in Cuba.
Most Dem. know any war that is built on a lie,we must fight on that lie until resolve.
All the spin around Clinton did nothing is as much as a joke as when in 1984 when the Reagen amd. made a deal with terriost that if they targeted only Military targets we would not go after the countrys that habor them, this is a fact do some researh and you find it to be true, the two parties are to blame, not the people of this country who have different beleifs and support the party of there choice.
Rep. want the pres. Bush bashing to stop, but the bashing don’t ever stop from the other side either, this article is a good example.
At sometime, one side is going to have to stop and work with the other side.

They do not. Partisans/irregulars are essentially exempt from the rules that regulate POW’s. We have given them treatment far above what is required, mostly because there are spotlights on our actions coming from all corners of the world, the brightest shining from within.

Anyone remember seeing footage of a South Vietnamese officer executing a detainee on the street? Two MP’s holding his arms, and the officer walks up, puts a 1911A1 to his forehead and pulls the trigger…. bad PR.

Criminals have rights. Partisans such as these terrorists do not. They could be summarily executed. I do not think that would be a proper course of action, and agree with what the administration has chosen to do: treat them humanely and be an example to the world.

Ignore the scandels of the Clinton administration…what did Clinton accomplish in office? He talked about issues, but he never DID anything. Dick Morris now says that the Democrats during the Clinton administration “encouraged” Clinton not to push to hard for any major reforms because they wanted to be able to campaign on the issues. For example, solve Social Security-we cant say how your need us to protect it.

Clinton didnt really screw anything up, but he didnt accomplish anything either. NAFTA was his major policy success, but that was a legacy of Bush I and not supported by Democrats.

A lie is how the left characterizes the reason for going to war in Iraq….pure and simple democratic propaganda! Just because no WMD was found does not mean it isn’t/wasn’t there! It’s ironic that when celebs like Alec Baldwin, Bruce Springsteen or Barbara Steisand speak out they get bashed by conservatives. We’re told they are only entertainers and have no business commenting on public policy.

However the same conservatives can’t get enough of it when someone like Charlie Daniels speaks his mind.

Boy………… go away for a couple of days and leave it to Steve to stir up trouble! Just kiddin’ buddy……. felt like we needed a little humor here.

Fact is guys……. we’re a divided nation but there is a majority. Look at the #1 reason people showed up at the polls for this last election. Moral convictions (social issues). Even the press said that if the Democrats don’t settle down some, they won’t have a person in office for some time.

86% of the nation surveyed considers themselves of a Christian moral value. To go the other way takes some real persuasion and both parties are going to fight tooth and nail for it.

When Alec Baldwin and Barbara Streisand speak up, realize they stand to be opposing 86% of the nation’s claimed value system. Everybody roots for “the guy” on their side of an issue. Believe me, Charlie gets his fair share of hate mail, negative press, and ill-favored attention. Anyone in fames familiarity experiences both extremes. But, if you feel people like Alec and Barbara are getting more negative attention, think of that 86% statistic that was just released last week by World News Today.

Let’s not forget also, that the people in our armed services weren’t drafted. They chose to be there. They signed up and all the risks of being military are well covered before anyone lays down the ink. We haven’t drafted the unwilling………. like the Vietnam and earlier eras. No one sentenced our servicemen and women to die. They volunteered to risk it all……. and if they agree with what we’re doing over there, we should really blank out our own wisdoms. There’s no way to know what they know…….. so they do indeed have a better insight and a wisdom greater than our own, regarding that topic. If anyone would spot the BS first, it’d be the men and women in the heart of the action.

As for who’s better, who’s worse…….. ask the 86%. They’re the ones you have to deal with.

I sat by and idly watched Bill and Al allow a dated provision for the protection of battered women expire. There was nothing to lobby for or pass through the legislature………. he just had to resign the bill for the provision……… and he didn’t do it. Now, the fact that I watched it during his administration makes it his own. But I’m willing to put any name in that paragraph. If Bush did it, I’d criticize him for it. It’s not a vendetta against the Clinton’s………. it’s an outrage toward anyone who claims to be the leader of the free world and allows something so simple to slip away. It violates my own conscience. Bill is the one who let it slip, so Bill is the one I’m going to talk about.

Reagon……….. was bashed, bashed, bashed…….. Does anyone else remember ’80 to ’88? Reaganomics oppresses the poor. It doesn’t work. Trickledown is something that never worked in our nation’s history. It only benefits the rich…….. and on and on and on. Between foreign policy, economics, and social issues…….. he was constantly ridiculed by the press and the entertainment world. But yet, he won both his elections with major landslides. People knew who won before they even had a chance to vote! Because he was that bad? I don’t think so……… Think 1980 vs. 1988. Were things better? You’re darned tootin’ they were! Were they perfect? Not even close.

My point is that the same mediums that couldn’t bash Ron and Nancy enough are the same mediums (even many of the same people!) who hailed him as one of the greatest presidents in our nation’s history, once he died! And then the relentless accolades of “Ronnie”…….. it made my stomach churn. His very adversaries were singing his praises……… what a joke!

I’m watching much of this repeat.

Nothing is ever as good as we want it. No one is going to do the perfect job. Even a great hero can make a grave mistake. But crossing the moral fiber…….. the 86%……… this is the reality and the only way to tear it down is through slighted information and deceit. ANYONE……. who crosses that line (and we all do at some point in our lives)…. is going to be subject to those who realize this. Opposition should be expected because this is an ageless condition.

Charlie calls the detainees criminals. Wouldn’t you have to be convicted of a crime for this. Maybe we shouldn’t be takin prisoners. I know a lot of soldiers over there that aren’t happy they were lied to and don’t know their mission. They can’t even secure the main road to the air port. I say we let them fight it out. At least they will kill each other.

Firing weapons on civilians or military without a uniform identifying yourself as an adversary isnt a crime? You can not possibly be serious.

to be a criminal you have to be convicted of a crime… not alleged to have been in a crime. Crimes have statute numbers and the accused are given their chance to tell their side of the story. We obviously can’t prove anything or they wouldn’t have hidden them in Guantanamo Bay. I say we shoot them to avoid talking about them.
