There is a report on another fishing site(walleye central) of an 18.3 LBS. walleye taken from Lake of the Woods. Does anyone know anything about this? There is not a pic of the fish and the post does not have a name of the person who supposedly caught this fish. Until I see something official I would have to assume that this is BS.

I will try and find the pic that I have seen. All I know is it was supposedly caught by a preacher on LOW. The eye was HUGE from the pic I saw. I know I can find it, but I cannot seem to paste anything on this website

The way the story reads it was caught in can., Whats funny is they mesured the lenght in cm. and the girth in inches. This sounds funny to me. If it is a record its a canadian record acording to that news letter. If the fish is real its still a pig

That looks like a tremendous fish, but I doubt it weighs 18 lbs unless the guy holding it is Andre the Giant.

Don’t matter to me where it was caught…I would become religious if I had something like that on the end of my line!

That fish was caught on Tobin Lake in Saskatchwan Canada. It was caught earlier this month. It might be a new world “ice” record if it was caught with a rod and reel.

There are stories saying it was caught on Mille Lacs, Wisconsin, and LOTW. All are untrue, it came from Tobin!!

Still its a very nice fish. One of those once in a life time fish. Will be interesting to find out more about it. New record on ice?

    Thanks, Bill

I think the fish you guys are talking about was caught @ Tobin Lake, Saskatchewan. The walleye was 18.3 LBS and was caught by the local RC priest. This is the new Saskatchewan record and it may be the largest walleye to come through the ice.

    Zamer,
I could not get your link to work, but the link that AmWatson has with the Walleye picture works just fine.

I thought walleyes didn’t get to that size in the North because our ‘growing season’ was too short, and that’s why the 17+ lb fish here in the US are all stocked fish in places like Dale Hallow.

True that genetic freaks come from all over, but it’s certainly an unusual fish that far North! Anyone got some input?
