Any info on the Alma,Wi. area ??? Plan to be there sunday and monday.. Bringin the better half with me..

Hey there Ironhead……welcome to the site

We fished Alma last friday and saturday. Friday we did good casting cranks to wingdams. Saturday was very slow with no walleye on cranks, and just a couple on jigs/crawlers.

If you’re not picky what you catch, the BIG sunnies are out on the wingies right now……as well as plenty of smallies (not to mention the sheepies)…….we also saw quite a few whitebass chasin on the surface.

A friend and I visited Alma on Tuesday. We started our excursion by anchoring in about 13 foot of water next to the gate where the barges pass through. This technique produced only one sheepie . I decided that we should try to drift and sure enough it paid off. We caught a decent sauger on every drift . We couldn’t believe it. We were fishing next to the area where the traffic or barges go through. We started our drift next to the boat with the two motors on it, which is located on the outside wall of the gate. Go out until you are in about 17 feet of water, then drift downstream. During this drift watch for the depth to get shallower about 12 feet deep, then it will get deeper again around 20 feet. At the 12 foot depth which I call the pocket is where the saugers were hiding out. Wow, one every drift with only one sheepie all day long; not too bad. Thanks for the fun Roy.
