Most people who fish the lake will tell you to wait until fall.

The water clarity is at less than zero, meaning you can’t usually see your bait until it’s in the boat. The lake is heavily choked with weeds. There is also a ton of pleasure boaters/jet-ski’s out there.

Was out there last week for an evening. granted it was my first time ever casting for skis and we didnt see as much as a follow. But the water was prob the clearest I have ever seen it and the weedlines are in great shape.

Used to fish French a lot. It is better in the fall as stated above but I have caught fish there all season long. It has some nice weed edges and quite a bit of structure. I prefer a southwest wind, not sure why but the muskies seem to get going with that. Also have caught fish trolling cranks. Had a three fish day once doing that.

The launch can be shallow if the lake is down. Had to wade the boat out at times with hip waders. Hoy’s Resort on the east side used to have an edible pizza, cold beer and the AC running most of the summer. Nice break on those steamy days.
