Fish House Paneling

    Hello –

So I have to replace 2 areas in a fish house that I just purchased because it looks like it has a little water damage. However, the paneling in there is on the cheap side. It’s probably 1/8 thick. I can get a sheet of paneling to match the existing for $25 per sheet. However, I think I might need 2. So now that I have $50 into I am thinking for maybe $100-$150 more I could repanel the whole inside? If I repaneled it what material would you recommend along with trying to keep it light weight? Thanks!

The only problem with plastics is they expand and contract a whole bunch with temperatures. And a fishhouse sees about as extream temp swings anthing I can think of. A 8 foot lenght could move at least a 1/4″ and as much as 1/2″ from -20 to +80. And that can happen in just hours when warming up a cold house. I would like to here if anybody has any luck with a plasic wall covering. I thought of doing the bottom 4′ with the white fiberglass pannels but I don’t believe the wall glue could hold up for years of that kind of temp cycling. just like vinyl siding, you can only use nails and the nail holes are slots to allow movement.

    •Will not swell or rot

Temp swing would be the same with any sometimes heated building, like a weekend cabin ? It is not Vinyl…

Go right over the existing with this Waterproof

Theres a product called FRP Board, very similar to the product mentioned above, we use it around here in our cow barns for washing show calves. It isnt affected by temp and is waterproof, comes as 1/8″ sheet or with an OSB backing. I think it would work great in an ice house.
