Has anyone used this net? I like the idea of the net collapsing into the pole for easy storage and not taking up room so less likely to stumble over or tangling with the extra rods. Kind of curious how tough they are.
I seen the net at this springs sport show but I have not seen it in the stores of course I’ve only been to 2 stores the go to Fleet and Joe’s.

    Hi Riverweed,

I have the Hiber-net as a back up net in my guide boat. Towards the end of the season my main guide net the “Conservation” series got a couple holes in it from Brutal Monster Pike spins with stickbaits throughout the season. I’ll be replacing the netting for 2012. I used the Hiber-net full-time to get me through the season over the last month. The net is a bit smaller than my main guide net and triangular shaped. Very neat concept and I do like being able to store the net with my fishing rods at the end of the day or in transport. With that being said I like the slightly larger hoop styled “Conservation” series from Frabill for everyday use in the guide boat. I will be once again using the “Hiber-net” as my back up in 2012.

The other thing the “Hiber-Net” would be perfect for is BWCA trips or whenever space is an issue. Packs beautifully and is a fully functioning net.

Thanks for the response Chris. I think I’ll give this a try though like you I like the larger hoop style. Never have enough fishing equipment, right?

Boy you sure can’t have enough equipment!! If I didn’t like the Hiber-net I certainly wouldn’t carry it in my guide boat. I would consider the all new slightly larger 72″ Hiber-Net as I am for next year. It sure would look nice with a bow on it under the Christmas Tree. Beyond the longer handle being extended from the original 52″ to 72″; The overall net size (Hoop) has went from a (24″ x 22″) to (27″ x 32″). The depth is also deeper in the new Hiber-Net going from (24″ to 32″)!!. IMHO if you fish Walleyes or Pike; The larger 72″ Hiber-net will serve you better in a boat setting with minimal differences in storing. Most anglers will opt to store this in a open rod locker or side wall of the boat. Whether the overall lengths is 52″ or 72″ it makes little difference from a storage standpoint, but may very well when it comes to landing that trophy fish!! For guys that like things nice and organized in their boats the Hiber-net is pretty darn slick!! I always use it bringing fish up to the cleaning shacks at the resorts here on Rainy. When I retract the netting down into the handle after cleaning fish I almost always get a inquiry about it.

“AND FOR MY NEXT TRICK!!” LOL!!

    Here’s a link to the 72″ Hiber-Net from Frabill.

That is what I was thinking also so I went out and measured the net I have now its a Frabill power catch at 22 wide x 24 front to handle and this net easily handles 56 inch sturgeons.

So my guess the up sizing Hiber-net did will work well.

    Hey Brian,

I’m looking to add the 32×41 “Conservation series” Musky landing net for our Monster Pike fishing next year. I used my Walleye sized “Conservation Series”, but feel the larger hoop will better suit my needs. If your catching the occassional large fish; NO PROBLEM. Still if your targeting those bigger fish on a daily basis, and last year we landed 64 pike in excess of 10lbs (6 over 20lbs); The larger hooped net is your best bet. The large hoop and deep netting assists anglers in safe CPR with those elite caliber fish. I would guess this same net would be a very nice fit for your Monster Whisker Adventures as well.

Here are a few reasons from last years fishing that helped us decide to “Pop for the Big one” in 2012!! That first Gator weighed 25lbs 4oz!! I think I heard it “Snicker” at my walleye net.
