Engineering Jobs

With all of the talk about jobs I thought I would post about a couple that I have been trying to fill for a while now. I work at Medtronic and we have several engineering positions open in our group. Medtronic offers a $1G referral bonus for every position I fill…that buys a lot of flicker shads…but in 12 years of working here…I have never been able to successfully refer one person to a job here.

Right now I can personally think of at least 4 jobs that we have open for an engineer…almost any discipline (mechanical, chemical, electrical, automation, welding, software, etc). The person needs to have about 4 years experience in manufacturing with processing equipment design, fab, installation, etc. If a guy had a couple years experience with laser processing or welding engineering he would probably be a shoe-in. If anybody knows of an engineer looking for a job let me know.

Let’s go guys…I’m low on jigs and cranks.

So what you are saying is if someone wants the job don’t take the referral from you. Then they might have a chance. lol

    Good point…

Nah…actually twice I had them offer a referral of mine a job and both times they turned the jobs down for a better offer.

Points out the true reality of todays world. Unemployment rates for well educated people (4 year degree or better) is under 4% in Minnesota. (Under 6% nation wide) Get a good education and you will likely have no problem finding a job. Right now at the company I work at we have well over 50 postions that are open. Can’t find anyone smart enough to fill them!

So you’re saying Medtronic doesn’t pay worth a crap!

I know several people who turned down offers here simply due to the fact they would be required to wear a suit and tie every day. Pay is not always the deciding factor!

I also work at Medtronic, and there are quite a few people who were let go this spring looking to get back. Primarily in the Hardware/Fireware area. Do you have an email address you want me to point them to?

We’re looking for process engineers…can be from any discipline, but need a couple years in process engineering…h/w f/w probably wouldn’t be a fit.
