Look before you drive… More than likely it can be done, but don’t be the first unless you are familiar with the body of water. I am hoping to drive on a smaller lake up here on Sunday, but if I see no other vehicles, I may walk my way out drilling holes and checking first!!!

Good tip. I’ll be looking for other trucks before i get too crazy. Thanks.
ZITS, For what it’s worth, I was on Big Blake last Sunday, 10″ of good solid ice underneath 4 inches of frozen slush. I saw 2 small sized P/U trucks drive right past my shack. I wouldn’t, mine’s quite a bit heavier then that. Good luck and keep the windows down.

I finally drove my shack out on my local lake last week but not before drilling holes ahead. Why my 7&8 yr old boys begged to come I waited as I did not feel safe. Truck lost one thing. I am “fairly” confident that I can get out of just about anything. I did not feel that if we went down I could get both young kids back up on the ice. Is a week early of fishing worth my boys lives… No. That being said drive slow and careful. Stop and drill. Takes time but saves lives.
