I’m pretty new to this. Do you use the fat head for just the heads and the larger minnows for your dead stick?

not to take over you r post. i got a 1 day/over night planned. 4 kids 2 adults. appledorns. here is my thoughts.

    spikes and waxies.

2 doz shiners For evening. or is this to many(as majority of my day and luck has come on fat heads)

    3 scoops fatheads.

    over kill or not enough?

I usually fish with minnow heads (that is if I get to even fish at all with the kids there.) i figure my power fishing will be when they all go to bed.

figure spikes for the boys during the day then eventually to fat heads so they can set the hook if the bobber moves during the day as not sure how they will be with straight jigging. But I do have 1 boy that is all whipped up about getting to use a flaaher (thank you slider) trevor really thinks you are cool now.

and for the daughter (who will be more into her ipod the shiners for the traps.

Most of the time I will use the heads of the fatheads on jigging spoons or Raps. There are times when I will use the tail. I will use shiners on set lines (rattle wheel, tip up, bobber, deadstick, etc…).

There are times where I have caught fish using a shiner head on a jig and use fatheads on the set lines, but for the most part the other way around.
