How do you keep yourself warm when it’s cold?

Now that we have snow in the midwest and temperatures that are below freezing, it’s important that we stay warm while hunting during the late season.

    Has anyone tried ThermaCare Heatwraps?

It’s designed to provide heat therapy for muscle pain. A buddy of mine swears by them and places one around the base of his neck and another around his lower back covering his kidneys to help blood circulation. They come in 8 or 12 hour versions, can be placed directly against your skin and they are unscented. They’re a little pricey but they also come in generic brands too (Walgreens). I just thought it was a great idea especially now during the late season!

What else do you do to keep yoursef warm on the stand?

Here’s another product that I stumbled across. It’s called a Cold Armor Belt . It’s also designed to strap across your lower back/kindney area and uses 3 heat packs.

Is sells for $29.99 black or camo.

    Anyone ever try this?

I just but the $.99 heat packs in my pockets of my Gamehide Jacket, that goes beneath my bibs. They have chest pockets, hand pockets and most importantly a pocket on the low back where I stick 2 in. Also I wear a Gamehide neck gaiter that some how really keeps me a ton warmer. I have only recently wearing this in the past year or so.

I also carry my bibs and jacket to the stand so I don’t overheat and sweat on the way in which if it happens makes you cold real fast when you cool down. So a huge key in staying warm is to wear the right amount of clothes on your walk in and then get dressed the rest of the way when you get there and cooled down to prevent from sweating.

I’m lucky in that I only really need hand and foot warmers. I can pretty much handle the bitter cold with layers of clothes.

Stick one on your chest and one on your back. Make sure you have one layer of clothing between you and the foot warmer. They can get hot.

Grabber is the ONLY brand I use. I have tried other one and just don’t seem to do as well. Toe warmers when it cold waiting for this week end to try the foot warmers.
As for my hands I use muff that’s angled to my arms with a hand warmer. Problem is if I’m shooting a scope, it sometimes fogs up from the steam off my hand.
Brad the brand you have shown I’ve never tried, but may in the future.

If I can keep my toes warm I can sit all day so thats why I’ve got a couple pairs of battery operated socks. I guess their the typical type as thats all I’ve ever seen. I just lift the tab on the top of the battery holder and drop in a D sized alkaline battery and their good for about 4 to 5 hrs. on that battery. Around noon I need to put in another battery and that one lasts until I leave after dark. At times the toe element gets so warm I have to disconnect the battery tab and let the toe section cool down. I’ve sat all day at 20 below in a stand and never gotten cold. If I can keep my feet warm I’m good to go for an all day sit.

When it comes to long Jons a couple pairs of those and blue jeans, a good insulated shirt, hooded sweatshirt and hunting coat and pants is usually what I wear when it gets downright cold cold. Anybody ever see felt pants and shirts or heavy wool pants for sale anymore, I haven’t seen them for along time, they would be choice for very cold weather.

I got some heavy wool pants from Cabelas a couple of years ago, best cold weather thing I ever bought.
