To pee or not to pee…

I have read some articles and heard from a couple guys that let it go right out of their stands and even urinating in scrapes to attract bucks during the rut and was wondering if anyone has had any luck doing this during the rut…especially bow hunting. I guess I am hesitant doing this during bow season because of scent control issues. During gun season I don’t have a problem whizzin’ out of the stand mainly because where we hunt, the deer are running for their lives come sun up.

I read an article on this also…. we were talking about it last weekend too…. the article was titled “Whiz Away” I try not to, but if I have to… I have too….. can’t really say if it has adverse affects or not… my bladder sure enjoys it

I have pee’d out of my stand ever since I can remember and have not seen any instance where deer have reacted negatively towards it. I think it comes down to what a deer deems as a threat. Once the ammonia smell wears off which is really quick(doubtful deer even associate ammonia with danger), pee is just water. Go easy on the asparagus and you’ll be fine.

Not to mention, grown men walking around with pee bottles….that’s just odd. LOL

Not sure about the scrapes, however I gave up holding it and/or bottles years ago. I usually use a ground blind and just go out the back door. I kill deer every year. I shot a deer on Tuesday at about 25 yards and had gone to the bathroom right before they showed up. I watched them for about 3 minutes before I shot and they never knew a thing. It was a windless morning as well.

I don’t hesitate to be comfortable either ( Big G and I have a lot in common ). I actually have messed around with making a mock scrape and peeing in it and then making another scrape without peeing in it a couple yards away, both with licking branches. And I noticed that the one that is peed in was tended more often than the plain scrape. I am not saying that is true every time but it was quite often.

Guess I could save my money when it comes to using scent like the Buck Bomb or Tinks 69. Haven’t had much luck with that stuff anyhow. Maybe we’ll have to give it a try this weekend!

Could this method be used for camera guys too? Hey Dan, if it starts “raining” and the sun is shining, DO NOT look up!

I thought we had this subject before…almost a year to the day! I’m pretty sure that is a first and probably last picture of a guy peeing on this sight. And go figure…it’s gut doing it!

Interesting! Maybe I should try it out next to Mike’s stand just in case it doesn’t work.

Apparently it doesn’t work…I’ve been peeing by your stands all season now!

The types of human scent that alert deer are not present in urine. Most likely would associate it as a predator type urine due to the chemical make-up of what we eat. I too have pee’d in scrapes and the such, with never a negative reponse from what I can tell. Since then, I have pee’d off my stand and never had a negative response–sure beats sitting there in agony or carrying along a jug.

    remember to play the wind!
I’ve never pissed out of my stand, nor will I ever in the future. I’d rather play the odds of it hurting me.
I remember a few years back my brother had to take a deuce so bad that he couldn’t make it back to camp. He let one rip right under his tree stand and later shot a button buck a few hours later. I guess sometimes it does not matter.

oh ya, me too. I was urine’in off the stand last Sunday and a damn grey squirrel running up the tree above me pisses. I’d like to have shot an arrow right up his butt! Glad the wind was in my favor. Hour later 3 does, one was an old [censored], come cruis’in through and with no hesitation…I’ve made to many kidney stones to be hold’in it for to long…..
