I hunt private land that is a 75acre field surrounded by woods and another 30acre field surrounded by woods, every year I can almost time it morning and night where and when the does come into the fields, but I rarely see bucks and when I do it is usually smaller bucks or spikes, any ideas as to what I can do to help bring out the larger bucks that I know are in the area?

Depends on the area but this time of year you want to hunt where the does are. Where there are does, the bucks won’t be too far behind!

that’s what I always try to tell myself year after year, should I attempt to rattle or use a bleet can to try to entice them out more?

I used the Primo’s can and that did the job for me this year! But this time of year you should try what ever you can…horns, grunt, bleat, scent, decoy…anything to try and trick them big boys!

Just keep hunting them whenever the wind is right. Wait. If there is a big buck within a few miles, he will come through at some point and try to date them girls. You have to be there when that happens. Until then keep watching as all the dinks pester them.

I agree. If you can get down wind where the does are entering the field and move just inside of those woods 50 yards or so.

It sounds like an area I used to bowhunt, lots of does and smaller bucks. They were heavy buck hunters in this area and that was the reason why. I did see the biggest buck I’ve ever seen in the wild close by my stand but never got a shot. Theres probably a few big ones around you just have to be patient like swim says and spend alot of time in your stand, thats what I had to do.

thanks for all the tips and feedback, please let me know if you have any other ideas…I like shooting does for meat but would be nice to get a nice buck one of these years, gonna go pick up a rattlin’ bag.
