Dakota Lithium specific charger truly needed?

For those that have a Dakota Lithium Battery, is the specific Dakota lithium charger truly needed or could I use a reliable Battery Tender Jr charger instead?

Speed of charge is not a factor to me as I just leave it on the charger over night after use anyways.

    BUT

I’d like to get the best use out of a charge and for sure don’t want to harm the battery long term…

    Thoughts?

Buying one for $27 shipped is not a big investment, but I have several spare Battery Tender Jr chargers lying around that maybe I could use…

As long as the charger says it can be used on a lithium battery you will be fine.

When using my ultra pack charger it’s always green since getting a Dakota lithium battery. Used my vexilar probably 6 hours straight this last time and plug it in and it’s green. Any idea what’s going on given they say and SLA charger works with these batteries?

The Charger won’t turn on (red) until the voltage falls below the charger’s threshold voltage for a fully charged lead battery. Lithiums operate fairly linear, typically at a higher voltage than a lead.

A 4 cell lithium will always undercharge, a 3 cell will get very hot.

I ended up getting a Dakota Lithium charger for $15 shipped from FishUSA during one of their holiday sales..soldered on a SAE plug to utilize my Marcum charge harness, charges fast

How about the other way around? Can I use the charger I got with my Dakota Lithium on the group buy on a standard Lead Acid Deep Cycle that came with my Vexilar?

    Are these Dakota’s 3 or 4 cell?

4 cell. They have 4 sets of 3 parallel 3300mah 26650? LiFePo4 cells (in series).

My apologies’ after doing some digging the Dakota lithium batteries are Lithium Iron LifePO4 batteries not lithium ION so there is no comparison for the battery I linked.

    Sorry for the confusion.
