Compound being built on Pike Lake in Grand Marais

    Kare 11 has a disturbing article posted. I don’t know how to post the link but it’s on their main page. Seth Jeff’s convicted felon and polygamist leader has bought land on pike lake in grand marais and appears to be preparing to construct a large compound. Having camped and fished up there with family often I find this very disturbing. It sounds like law enforcement is aware but can’t do much without proof. wondering what a normal person can do to shut something like this down and how the heck does this guy have a business?

    He has many impending lawsuits he is running from as well. There isn’t much you can do unfortunately.

    I hope it doesn’t come to fruition. We stay on Pike Lake every year for vacation.

    The citizens group in Grand Marais heard from Sam Brower, a private investigator who wrote the book “Prophet’s Prey” about his multi-year investigation of the FLDS.

    “You can’t infringe on other people’s rights – then you turn into the bad guy,” Brower told the group. “But you can be diligent, you can watch, you can look out for the signs. You can look out for child labor or young girls with babies, things like that.”

    We were maybe going to buy a house on that lake, but decided otherwise after we found out about that dude. A compound sucks in the first place, and a pedophile doesn’t make it any better!

    More I think about it the more frustrating it is. The town won’t let a dollar general in, but gives a permit for this??

    Old news. I remember hearing or reading about this last year. But I agree, it’s not a good thing.

    I don’t think the guy will last if he moves to the area. Lot of crazy Hillbillies out there

    Yup, when you’re Deer hunting those bullets can ricochet quite a bit sometimes. doah

    I was thinking the same thing. The City/County/Township should be having those guy jumping thru so many hoops it would make their heads spin.
    Not to mention septic system requirements for a 6000 sq ft pole building apartment.

    Does anyone know why he chose this area? What is his connection to here, out of all other remote places he could’ve went? Does he have family in the area or something?
