Has anyone tried using a hair rig for sturgeon? This is what the Europeans use for carp fishing. It is designed for catching fish that suck their food off the bottom. The hook itself is left bare and the fish takes it in when they suck up food. Then they can’t spit the hook out. Laser sharpened hooks and circle hooks would seem ideally suited for this. I thought this up too late for this season, but would like to know if anyone has tried it.
If you use this, bolt your rod down because they might yank it out of the boat when they feel the hook.
