Is this normal, my mn boat stickers were mailed to me from Colorado parks and wildlife? Seems strange to me ?
Finally got the crestliner done that I picked up off John’s buddy after he wrecked it. After some welding, cutting torching and fabricating she is now water ready. Was going to break it in yesterday but the wind kept me from crappie fishing. Today the storms are keeping me home. Maybe tomorrow evening.

Lol don’t mind my daughters book in the picture, we stopped mid wiring so I could read her a bid dog little dog book lol. Figuring out wiring in this boat was a nightmare. I ended up just removing the deck and running all new wires

We’ve gotten license tabs from Texas. I just got registration for boat and snowmobile but didn’t pay attention to where it came from.

That just seems so strange. Would make sense if some big hub printed all the states, but I didn’t think that was the case.

Sweet boat, Fish Hawks have a very appealing layout. How did the transom look?

    What year?

What Opti do you have on it?

The 1750 Fishhawk might have been one of my favorite layouts (older guy I used to fish with had one). The double bubble maximized space but gave you a decent wind break on a long ride

This is a 06 with matching year opti 115. I took a quick ride in it after we welded the small hole in the keel. The transom looks 95 percent good but there is some rot starting on the passenger side underneath the foam. That will be dealt with this winter. Looked like water / rain would get trapped in that corner and couldn’t get out. But besides the welded cap, the transom is pretty simple to get at. The entire back deck comes off in 20 minutes. I can hang on the motor and the transom has 0 flex so I’m not worried about it this year.
As for the double bubble, I’m not crazy about the dual counsel, but I don’t hate it. The room in the 1850 is awesome. Feel like I can have a party in that thing. I’m looking forward to fishing out of it. The opti, is clean as clean gets. Under the hood is very nice, and she purrs like a kitten. Our quick test run we hit 39, and still had a little more. But with out the tach hooked i didn’t want to hit wot. It has a 4 blade prop on it now and want to see how it does when loaded down and full of fuel.

Only bad part is the center rod holder has 2 rows, top is max 7ft, bottom is 6ft. I have to take the front deck off and cut the wall inside to allow rods up to at least 7ft 6. Other then that, it was a bit of a project but the price was right.

Aspira is in Texas and does MN, CO, and some other states. Probably just put it in the wrong envelope.

Glad your about ready to get it back on the water. Kinda think in hindsight we should have taken on the project of bringing it back to life but if being honest you have a better skill set for it anyway. The transom is one of the things that had him most worried about that boat when he found the damage. Hope you and the family make some great memories in that thing.

I have alot of time in at YouTube university lol.
I called al on Saturday because I was so confused on some wiring that I wasn’t figuring out. He was saying the transom looked bad, but when I dug in there, it wasn’t to bad at all. Only starting to get bad in the corner. Which can be expected out of a 20 year old boat. But when I was in there, I couldn’t help but thing how easy crestliner made that transom to replace. So that’s on my next winters agenda. I still really appreciate him letting me take the boat, I have some time in to this project, but I’m pretty happy with the outcome so far.

Somewhere around 8ish years ago I did a full head gasket on my f150, timing chains and some other work, fully by watching a YouTube guy. I might get frustrated and have to walk away from time to time. But being as cheap as I am, I’ll fix it and learn it myself in most cases, before I hire out 1000s in work. Due to my stubbornness and cheap ass, I’ve become very handy in lots of different skill sets. I highly suggest getting a degree at YouTube university, it pays for its self in the long run.

I know the paper is produced in another state, a little surprised they are printed from Colorado. Maybe that’s the HQ for the company that will be doing our electronic licenses in 4 years when they finally are prepared.

Yes! Its common knowledge that self done jobs always end up with extra parts. I put a new swing arm mount in my boat because the old ball mount Ram wasnt going to cut it. It took me 3 times to get it right, but no extra parts.

No extra parts on my head gasket job. And none in the crestliner. I did alright work. Enough to the point that I’m excited to fish out of it.
