I was at the local alumacraft dealership today picking up a new 400 dollar seat for my competitor and asked about a bracket to mount two downriggers to the alumatrack. Guy behind the counter (and computer)! Said ‘I don’t know, we normally just sell rod holders’ . Wtf! I said oh ok thanks and left. I would say they missed out on a potentially good sale. I would think he could have put is fingers the the keyboard and found out for me but I guess not! Does anyone know if it’s doable or is it a bad idea putting that much weight on it . I have a 2018 175 competitor. Thanks

Check out Cisco’s mounts. I’d be a little careful depending on how long your downriggers are and what type of weight you’re using. If you are going past a couple feet long and more than 8 lbs you may want to get two of these mounts and and mount a track to it. Would be a much more stable option.

Do you have the narrow or wide gunwales??? With the narrow ones, I’d lean towards two mounts with a track as that will distribute the load a little better. Wide gunwales, with your set up, would probably be fine with one as they are much stiffer.

They should be just fine, however if you are running in big rough water, at the very least, tether them to the boat in case they vibrate loose. You wouldnt be the first to lose one over the side of the boat !
