interesting draft pick nuggets, the Wolves have Detroit’s 2025 1st round pick (top 13 protected) which ended up being the #17 pick overall and then they also have Utah’s 2nd round pick (unprotected) which turned into the #31 pick overall…pretty dang good by our GM!

And don’t get me started on the “behind closed doors” lottery picks for the draft!?!?!?!
NBA is being run as a business, not a free for all sport.

Wolves gotta go get KD this offseason!!
Knicks got worse by 1 game. Wolves by 7 games. Kat had one of his best years statistically. Randle may not be on the wolves next year as he has a player option next year.

Ant and KD would be electric. Allowing KD to play off the ball and Ant creating his own shots would be tough to guard. KD has a couple good years and wants to contend. The wolves are a good fit.
April 15, 2025 at 8:47 am #2330243Electric?!?
^Where has KD went and won? He stepped into the best team in the league already in Golden State which means nothing. This was after he was part of a blown series lead in the playoffs on a team that had a young Harden and Westbrook also without ever getting a ring.
How did things go in Brooklyn? How are things currently going in Phoenix?
…I’m not a Wolves fan, but I wouldn’t want him anywhere near that team if I was.
April 15, 2025 at 8:52 am #2330248nope, stay far away from KD (will be tough because Ant wants him on the team) but he turns 37 next season and will physically break down at some point of the season)… He won’t be worth the price it will take to get him (which will be ridiculous) just because he won’t be on the floor enough…but again, Ant will push hard for him to play with his idol…
April 15, 2025 at 8:56 am #2330249If you look at the construction of the top 2 seeds in both the East and the West, there are some similarities (OKC, Houston, Boston, Cleveland).
They all drafted well and acquired assets during down years.
They all have avoided the dreaded Max (or near max) contract to an aging vet beyond their prime.
They all have rosters that play hard on both ends of the floor. There’s a good chance the Champion isn’t one of those 4 teams…but it’s hard to argue with their blueprint for success so far. Minnesota has a chance to continue on a similar trajectory if they avoid bad contracts and embrace youth while building around Ant.
April 15, 2025 at 9:53 am #2330279Phoenix has had 3 coaches in 3 years. In Brooklyn, Kyrie lost his mind and never played. How’s that on KD. Bottom line is that KD is one of the most dynamic scorers the league has ever seen.
KD isn’t without blame but name another move the wolves could make to make them
an immediate contender.April 15, 2025 at 10:33 am #2330295Phoenix has had 3 coaches in 3 years. In Brooklyn, Kyrie lost his mind and never played. How’s that on KD. Bottom line is that KD is one of the most dynamic scorers the league has ever seen.

He’s got some nice pieces to play alongside in Phoenix and they aren’t even in the playoffs. I would bet a substantial sum of money that him in Minnesota will end in a bad way.
April 15, 2025 at 10:39 am #2330296The mock trades i’ve seen for KD require a top young talent (Dillingham) and a bevy of future 1st round draft picks going back to PHX, no thank you!… Continue to develop the young guys we’ve drafted recently (Dillingham, Shannon, Minot, Miller, etc) and see if you can pool picks together in this year’s draft for a future PG to eventually take over for Conley…Continue to put shooters around Ant…
April 15, 2025 at 10:45 am #2330297A young true PG who can defend would be a great addition.
Some of the best teams develop their own talent – period. The whole fad of assembling an all star roster or “Big 3” has worked a few times in the NBA (mainly the KG Boston days, the old Heat), but the latest trend seems to show that drafting and developing is a bigger focus as noted by the top seeds. The Wolves will regret jumping into the pool of teams shuffling around aging stars only to never win a title.
April 15, 2025 at 10:47 am #2330299If he was 6-7 years younger it would be awesome but would be terrible now for the money.
April 15, 2025 at 11:11 am #2330305its going to come down to Connelly and Finch convincing Ant it’s not a good idea…

Always fun to see a fan’s idea of a realistic / fair trade. Denver wouldn’t take 2 Rudy’s and 3 Randle’s for the joker.
I hate that we’re even talking about this crap right now? Can we just enjoy the playoffs and then start the nonsense?
Also am I the only one who’s pretty exhausted by Edwards already? Would it be too much to ask to get a star player who isn’t a complete idiot/egomaniac? Does such a player even exist?

He’s a 23 year old kid who makes $50 million a year playing basketball and most people praise him as the face of the next generation of the NBA… not sure you’re going to find many grounded kids that have all of that… You just hope he doesn’t get into any trouble until he has time to mature…that can be said for most 23 year olds…

Dude said to name another move that would make them contenders right away. Nothing said about realistic.

Towns was going to go no matter what. You can’t pay 3-4 guys 50 to 60 million a year and stay under the second apron and pay the luxury tax unless you have a Chip. Timing was odd but I bet TC was waiting for the Knicks to throw in Donte or he wasn’t doing the deal. Donte is on one of the most team friendly deals in the league, and he is an absolute flame thrower from deep! Wolves have a lot of leverage depending on what Randle does with his opt out. GREAT TRADE

Haha I came back to say just that, such little confidence in this playoff run we are already looking to the offseason?
Also am I the only one who’s pretty exhausted by Edwards already?
My issue with Edwards is that he seems to believe all the hype, when he has accomplished exactly…nothing. There’s levels in the NBA, and he’s not reached any of them beyond All-Star and playoff participant. If he’s what everyone says he is, he needs to be winning MVP’s and Conference and NBA Finals. It is not certain that happens.

Glad you brought this up. So this is the breakdown of what TC got for Towns and Dlo:
Randle
Donte
Conley
Nickeil
Detroit 17th
Utah 31st
Utah future secondThat is GM of the year kind of a move if you ask me! On top of that you get out of another 3 years of guaranteed Towns money. As you can tell I am not a big fan of the Big Purr or the Big softee.

KD has 2-3 years left IMO? He has never been great on D but is an absolute sniper so there is the tradeoff.
Wolves could offer:
Jaden & Randle(sign and trade)
Detroit 1st
Future 1stThat might get it done? His asking price will likely go down this summer. It’s hard to say if this will ever materialize but they need to know if Randle opts into his final year or goes elsewhere for more money? The Spurs are likely able to offer more in a trade. OKC might be a dark horse with all the picks they have?

Jokic may go down as top 5 OF ALL TIME! We are not comparing apples to apples. Luka did get moved in the middle of the night so nobody is safe. That will go down as the stupidest trade by a mile so Rudy and Randle is not that far fetched. Our GM did draft Jokic so never rule that out.
Ant is young, dramatic and immature AF but if he don’t run out of gas, he can put a team on his back so I say
Bringyaass Luka
April 15, 2025 at 1:46 pm #2330343KD has 2-3 years left IMO
I honestly don’t know so i’ll ask, Who’s a comparable 37 year old (with an ankle/knee/achilles injury history) to help forecast what a 2-3 year KD projection could look like? I think you would be giving up a ton for a guy who will more than likely spend more time on the injured list vs the court…
April 15, 2025 at 2:14 pm #2330350^OKC isn’t touching the mess that is a 37 year old KD. They have the roster that everyone else wants in the NBA… Young, Talented, and Cheap.
April 15, 2025 at 2:20 pm #2330351They need a PG who can score as a second option to Ant. Then they need more length and athleticism at the 4/5. Kinda like OKC has with Holmgren and Hartenstein.
Gobert needs to go and they likely need to trade Randle for some younger talent.
The west is a gauntlet. For the wolves to compete they will need to draft perfectly and get some breaks.
I agree the KD deal is a pipe dream unless you can get him in a favorable one year deal..he seems to want to play with Ant so maybe he’ll make some concessions (doubtful though).
April 15, 2025 at 2:36 pm #2330352I like Gobert as a defensive minded big who plays hard, but he’s a tough contract to swallow on the second most expensive roster in the league that needs to get a bit younger.
The Wolves are where Milwaukee was…they have their franchise guy who is good enough to carry you in stretches of the playoffs (Ant, Giannis) but now have to decide what the pairing is around them. I still think Ant is at his best attacking downhill while surrounded with shooters. Having Gobert, Randle sometimes clogging thinks up creates an offensive that is based more on Ant chucking 3s (which he’s made a lot of). When playoff series come though, perimeter defense becomes a real thing versus the half-hearted effort it is November – March.
April 15, 2025 at 2:45 pm #2330354They were talking on espn that the reason Ant has been staying on the perimeter during the season was to save his body for the playoffs. He knows he’s gonna have to get to the basket and play more physical during the playoffs. Gobert and Randle need to clear out and let Ant work.
April 15, 2025 at 3:19 pm #2330361I just hate when everything flows for them driving and shooting open threes. Then one little thing happens and they just force threes possession after possession. Or when they struggle in the fourth quarter and the other team is catching up and they launch threes with 15-20 seconds left on the shot clock. Slow down to eliminate a few possessions at the end.
