Michaletti was on kfan today saying wild have one name circled this summer on a FA deal. Wouldn’t give the name but they basically narrowed it down to one Brock and it wasn’t the one in Vancouver.

That’s fine as long as the term is 2 years or less… but this is likely his last contract, he’s going to demand 4-5 years…

I they go the UFA route, think they go with Boeser if he takes a hometown discount at $7×7 (its been said he turned down an $8 x 5 offer from Vancouver, he wants a full term deal)

I think GMBG will do a trade instead with Rossi as the key piece going back…

If Colorado doesn’t win the Cup, the price they paid to rent Nelson looks absolutely terrible…

Most deadline rental trades look terrible if you don’t win the cup.

I think Nelson signs a 3 year deal. Not a chance it’s 2 years or less.

Gotta sign Nelson just to get the blood line back in Minnesota. He’s part of the Christian family and probably the only MN NHLer whose wife was arguably a better high school hockey player than he was. Pretty sure they have a few kids already, time to make them officially #oneofus

So is the Colorado GM getting fired for anything short of winning the cup? Just like the Carolina GM, right

Have to sign Nelson for the versatility he brings and the fact he can play anywhere in all situations. I don’t get the sign Boeser for 7 years but Nelson only 1.

Kyle Connor is such a sleeper. Year after year he puts up crazy numbers and gets no recognition. The guy buries a big goal again tonight.

Well if Nelson is their “big fish” this off season it’s time to put the rattle reels down and go to bed. Five goals by the Av’s last night and he’s not on the score sheet. Hopefully the rattle reels get a keeper! Wonder what Keith Acton or Mark Napier are doing these days?

Yeah 13 points in 19 games since joining the avs? Who exactly should this big fish be? McDavid McKinnon Tkachuck?

Petterson might be nice but not going to be cheap and I think he’d be a locker room cancer. I like nelson alot but he’s only got a few years left but he is solid on both ends and wins FO

I 100% agree he only has a few years left before his game likely starts to fall off a cliff at 36+ years old (That’s why I said I would only offer him a 2 year deal max) Yes, he can help the next few years, but he’ll be an anchor after that…imo
He’s also just a career 48% faceoff guy, no different from Ekker, he was a brutal 4/12 on draws last night…

I was referring to free agents when I originally posted. Trades are a whole different take at this point and is pure speculation on any front for a trade scenario.

Elias Petterson is the dream. Seems like a chance he’s available, and if so would be almost exactly like when Eichel wanted out of Buffalo. Except now the Wild have everything they need to make a deal and then some

OK enough of that now. It’s day 1 of the playoffs. Welcome to the NHL beautiful baby Zeev. LFG

I know you were Rip. I was just thinking he might be a more ideal scenario due to long term production potentially but that will certainly come with a much higher cost.
Zeev makes his NHL debut tonight. LFG

I would question if anyone inside the organization would trust Pat at all with such information. He talks a big game.

Pretty well connected in the hockey world.
Guess we will see. If I had to bet on 1 FA signing I’d put my money there.

Ok I will tell you there are TWO high profile FA’s in the cross hairs. No one will tell a guy in the media exactly who the Wild are targeting. He will come e out and at I told you so but he does not know.

Here is some pregame content if you need it.

Stick with the video till about the 5:50 mark.

When you see how physical and fast the playoff pace is you scratch your head on the Nyquist deadline trade…

Way to many passengers for a playoff game… 2nd and especially the 3rd line were invisible and so soft to play against, but that’s the type of players they are so fault the GM…

Tired of giving up pp goals in like 6 seconds…

Boldy was a horse and GusBus played well but let in 2 softies…

Wild can definitely play with and beat Vegas, just can’t make too many mistakes…

Nothing like a game finishing just shy of midnight on a Sunday night.

    Boldy kicked arse all game.

    Did Rossi even play tonight?

Zeev, uff dah. Tough spot to be put in.

Hell of a game, thought they played well overall and hung right with a damn good Vegas team. The Vegas slot is like freaking fort Knox, good luck getting in there.

And as always, special teams were the difference

I thought Buium had a normal rookie game, he had bad gaps his first 3-4 shifts because he was nervous and forced a couple of passes instead of shooting… Once he calmed down you could see the tools and offensive mindset he brings… he’ll get better each game…

The thing that stood out to me in this game is personnel… Vegas is built for the playoffs, maybe the softest player they have is Dorofyev and he was throwing hits, driving to the net, etc

The Wild on the other hand have Nyquist, Jojo, Freddy, Zuccy, Rossi, Spurgeon, Brodin (Zuccy tried to hit a few guys and got blasted every time) all of those guys aren’t going to finish their checks most of the time, complete opposite of Vegas…

Just not a roster that looked comfortable playing playoff hockey…

Foligno & Trenin were physical forces all game, they just aren’t enough…

Biggest positive was Boldy playing like a beast ALL game and PRODUCING! If he can maintain that through the series he’ll enter the young superstar category..

Need to steal one tomorrow night (Wednesday morning)

Yeah, they will definitely need to win 1 on the road (captain obvious — me) so might as well be the next one. I quit watching after the first goal.
I think Hill is very vulnerable low on the blocker side. He almost got burned twice where pucks made it through him in the time I watched.

Seeing lots of hate on the Ref’s last night, I thought there were only 2 calls that were missed, the first period collision with Hartman and Buchnevich was probably deemed incidental by the refs, so I could see that call going either way and then Hartman getting crossed checked in the face behind the net was an obvious missed call with the Ref staring right at it, perhaps there’s a little Hartman bias from the Refs? The other stuff happens in playoff games (Crosscheck on Krill behind the net is a good example)

Only roster changes I’d like to see would be swapping Rossi and Gaudreau and then replace Nyquist with Hinostroza or Ohgren… Nyquist is done and needs to hang them up…

Completely agree on the refs, Joe. The whining about refs after every loss drives me nuts, it’s loser mentality. Every “missed” call was on Hartman… how can anyone be surprised he doesn’t draw penalties anymore? Although he still managed to draw one, don’t think it was ever shown what happened though.

I will say the amount of interference Vegas plays with is next level. Every dump in, or chip and chase, or faceoff win, Vegas was getting a lot of skin on Wild players. But they were letting it go both ways so they need to play through it. And the players and coaches were; didn’t see any whining from players and the coaches, just fans on twitter. Not sure what Lapanta had to say about it. Boldy’s wraparound goal Hartman had both Vegas D blocked in the crease like a left tackle. And the last thing Wild want is penalties getting called tight, keeping it 5v5 both ways is in their best interest.

Was just a super tight game both ways and Wild made a few more mistakes. The loaded up top line was better than any Vegas line, but the Vegas depth is unrelenting. Vegas 4th line scored the dagger goal against the Wild 1st line, that was the killer. Thought Wild 4th line was good, but not sure they will be together to start next game.

I thought it was called pretty evenly (aka not much called) with the exception of the crosscheck on Hartman and the faceoff trip/tackle that led to their PP goal. Both were pretty blatant imo. But we got away with a couple too, just not quite as blatant. That Eichel/Stone line is ridiculous and going to continue to be a doozy especially on the road when they get last change. I thought Nyquist and Bogo looked like they didn’t belong out there.
