Bucktail Wayne Is Back!

After a month abscence in Florida,Bucktail wayne and grandson Elija returned to Pool #4 in grand fashion! What was this10.8# fish caught on?

You guessed it! KellyGReen and the uglybug patterns put the

the pigs in the boat.Good job boys and glad to have ya back!.Although bucktails did well,BFT ringies, kgrubs, paddletails, and doos put many pounds of fish to the boat as well this week.Firecracker chart tail, cotton candy, and chartpepper were the most mentioned colors. For vert jigging, the hairjig and minnow combo is tough to beat on inactive fish

I should also mention that 3ways and cranks as well as handlining are becoming effective also.River conditions are great and getting better as water temp slowly rises!GOOD FISHING TO EVERYONE!

  2. Great fish Wayne. Thanks for the report Dean. We also saw the 3-way/rap bite starting up at pool 11 this weekend.

  3. Nice fish Wayne!
I will reply on the hair bite as well. Anyone who knows me knows that I love to throw hair. I been fortunate enough to fish the river for the last three days with mixed results. Saturday was the best day for quality fish, mainly vertically jigging very subtle. Big fish for Saturday was a friend of mines 25″ 8 pounder (on her first trip ever walleye fishing). Also coming to the boat were a couple of 5 and 4 pounders. Green hair is always a producer and has been all weekend. Along with some blues and some purples. The key is keep it slow.
    hope this helps, Brad

  4. Great fish Wayne!!! Atta boy.

I’d definitely have to agree with Muskyman, no matter what you are throwing right now if you aren’t throwing agonizingly slow you are missing out on fish. When pitching I have been very slowly dragging my jig with long pauses and no hops and when verical I have been just lifting the jig maybe 4-6 inches off bottom and holding it for maybe 5 seconds then slowly dropping to touch bottom and back up again. Most of my bites have come during the pauses. Good boat control is essential right now. If your jig is not straight below the boat you will be missing fish.

  5. And another. Dean schooled us tonight! I understand he has a way of doing that with people lately! I think they are still whispering up on Pool 2 about the legend of Dean Marshall!
Thanks a lot Dean! It sure was fun having you in the boat!

  6. And the well known LITTLE seen as of late, Mike Little was the Captain of our boat for the evening as mine is shined up and waiting at the Northwest Sport Show in the G3 booth.

Here is Mike with a nice chunky eye. We got into the saugers in the late afternoon, and the walleyes late. Knuckleball jigs for me, and H20 jigs for Mike. I love the orange black Knuckler! We used Cotton Candy and Black and Silver BFT K-Tails, and Firecracker/Chart ringies. Chart/Pepper was hot as well, and took a lot of fish on the Knuckler in 1/4 ounce.

  7. nice fish….chris, I have to ask you….do you lay on the floor of your boat when taking your pictures…or are these people that much taller than yourself?

  8. We didn’t have school today so I decided to head down. Because of my recent lack of big fish action, I decided to strictly pitch plastics in search of a pig (or more). Well the plan wasn’t working so well as my first four spots fizzled out with nothing but a lost fish and a barely-legal. So I headed to spot with a little different structure and finally the plan paid off. A k-grub on a 1/8oz jig enticed a fat 24″ fish that weighed just a shy under 6 pounds to bite. All in all it was a slow day, but that one fish made the trip worthwhile. I think Dean will post a pic of it for me. Thanks

    Tony

Not funny man! Do you know how hard it is going through life at only 3′ 2″?

  10. Good Pics and reports, Dean, Tuck, Muskyman, and Tony, keep ’em coming.
Tuck- “little man with the camera”, don’t let him fool you. the low angle up on Mille Lacs in the Fall, keeps the other boats off your tails. maybe???? just quessing.
