The past couple days ahead of Saturdays rain were productive for saugers in the main channel in 30-34 fow at the head of Twin Island. Most fish on the small side. My most productive lure was a 3/4 ounce Zip in chrome/shad…some of the sauger only a couple inches longer than the lure, but very aggressive…maybe one reason it took probably 30 fish to keep six 12-14 inches for the pan. find em and they’re STACKED
Crappies were hitting pretty well on red Lil Cecils on Shore slough just north of Lansing on Wednesday and Thursday
Crappies also the main fare out from Blackhawk County park. Peak bite time on Friday was about 1-2:30 pm. Fish about eight inches.
Rain might put the ka-bosh on ice fishing after this weekend on most of pool 9. Guess we’ll have to wait and see. No fotos with this post. Just imagine a hot dog bun with a couple inches of fish sticking out either end for the saugers….the crappie fillets were about twice as big as walleye cheeks off of 12 pounders. Yeah, I know what you’re thinking…and I don’t know if bald eagle tastes the same as great horned owl, either.

Put my ice gear up for the time being. We can still get some darned cold weather to put us back on the ice in Feb. But not holding my breath this year.
Thinking more on the side of getting the boat out and going for some eyes and sauger. Even a cat on the line would be fun. Or just a big ole’ aggressive carp
