having all kinds of mafunctions with my stuff lately!!! smash frown

i have a foodsaver vacuum sealer. trying to pack the smoked fish from yesterday. it pulls all the air out of it but when the lite goes on it keeps running and literally melts the bag at the seal point.

    is this thing shot???????

Yup. I’ve had a half dozen Foodsaver vacuum sealers. I bit the bullet and bought a ARY 215 VacMaster chamber vacuum. Best investment I’ve made. You can even seal soups and sauces in this thing.

Glenn, I just had one do the same thing. I unplugged it to make it stop. Only lasted ~20 years. I bought a new one where the roll stores inside and has the cutter. Way easier.
AK Guy, VacMasters are nice but I don’t seal enough to be worth it. Don’t you have to change the oil in it?

i dont really know how long i’ve had mine but its been awhile. mine will stop when i let off the go button, but by that time the bag is melted. i looked at Runnings site, since i’m also in the market for a meat slicer doah i seen an LEM vacuum sealer i kinda like for a hundy!!!

i really dont need the biggest top of the line kinda one!!!!!! i’m an old fashioned guy that puts fish in a milk jug with water…….and soup in ice cream pails….that stuff doesnt last long enough to worry about freezer burn.

i did look and at the moment the 2 bags i did seal hasnt leaked yet, but i dont have alot of faith it’ll stay that way!!!!

There is a strip of tape over the heat element that wears out and is easily replaced. Is yours worn out or come off maybe? Here’s replacement from Amazon: https://a.co/d/7KktxMy

I have one I got from cabelas about 10 years ago that starting acting up recently too. It will still suck the air our and seal but I have to push the seal button myself now which let’s a little bit of air out. It will probably be time for an upgrade for me soon too

Yes, you have to change the oil out based on usage. It is very easy, much easier than my Honda generator. The 210 model does not require oil changing, but based on reviews, will not hold up to the abuse a 215 can take.

Let us know on the slicer after using it a few times. I would like to buy one myself and have no idea what to buy

that might be a while, but I sure like how it is built. Belt driven it says.
