So..I built my hovercraft trailer deck out of treated Plywood. ..
What would be the best paint/cover to preserve my trailer..
I also want to paint the galvanized frame..
Black is my color of choice….

I’m a carpenter and the best thing for wood is stain. We only use Behr paints and stains from home Depot. Best brand for your buck and covers really well.

Let the wood sit in the sun and dry out for a couple weeks before applying any finish. Treated wood (especially if it’s from Menards) is notorious for having a high moisture content.

You could always use a paint on bed liner like Herculiner. I don’t know how well it would work on treated wood but it would work great on the metal frame.

I’ve been researching truck bed liners for my plywood transom panels and have decided on a product called Durabak. It is black and would adhere to the plywood and galv. trailer. It is pricey but I’m wanting this to last.

As Munchy said let the moisture content lower, that’s key 5 t0 6 %.
IMHO – then prime with oil, I prefer Kilz, Top coat with a high quality paint.
and as Henry Ford said “You can get it in any color as long as it’s black!”
    Good luck, post pics.

With the frame, grind any rust, prime, and paint. The hammered texture spray paint is awesome.

I can echo this, neighbor did it with his trailer. Grinded off loose stuff and sprayed, looks great.

Dave since you said you had a galvanized trailer I am guessing you don’t have any rust, but if you do, it will have to get removed and primed. I’m not an expert but believe painting over galvanized surfaces presents some issue. You might want to ask a body shop or automotive type paint supplier about paint selection that would work best on galvanized surfaces.
