Retail Sporting Shop | Outdoors Again

    Anybody know any details?

Would be a bummer if that store closed. Great selection including odd parts for when I have dropped my boat in for the first time of the year and inevitably need something.

It was open when I was up on 3/14. I asked the girl checking me out about the sale and she said “he’s tired”.

Retail is hard especially when you have to compete with all the on-line guys. I don’t blame him, you look at all the dollars he has sunk into inventory knowing the profit margin is low and getting lower everyday. Businesses are built to either pass on to the next generation or to gleen enough income to retire comfortably. In this case I’m guessing he is pulling numerous shifts himself just to survive.

I would guess this as well. Would be a huge loss to the area for sure. There wont be a bait shop in town anymore if it shuts down. Not the best timing with Rainy opening up they will lose a lot of business, but again like you say Dutch, if its hard for him to find help OR he works himself out of necessity to keep payroll low he probably doesnt want to deal with all the extra work either.
Log cabin I think is the next closest bait shop which isnt far, but certainly out of the way for a lot of people.

You are correct Dutch. He can’t compete with the online retailers. His only advantage is his region specific jigs and tackle that you can’t get anywhere else. I can’t imagine making a living by selling jigs.
I have a good friend who owns a bait shop, it’s very long hours with very little pay. He does it because he loves it and loves the people. Love doesn’t pay the bills though.

Yeah, its a fine place but a little more out of the way for a lot of people. Not the worst thing, but Outdoors Again has some stuff you wont find anywhere else likely. Man the stuff I seem to find in there.

Nice thing about Outdoors Again is it has great parking even if you are towing a boat. Easy in, easy out.

Only problems I ever found in that town was McDonalds.

I always thought that has to be one of the busiest McD’s in the world, at least per capita.

Too true. You can make it to Kelliher and stop at the gas station for some decent food in the same amount of time as waiting in that McDs drive thru

This is to funny. Like once a year we have to attempt to get food there and it never ceases to amaze me. I swear sometimes we could have been back to the cabin and lit the grill by the time we are out of there. One time we just said screw it and left without getting our food. For anyone that goes home via HWY 53, the junction in pelland has bomb food and way faster than the McDonalds

Okay. Since this post is way off topic here goes. How about the Sushi place in Baudette? Anyone try that yet? It must be authentic and fresh, Right?

Talked myself into it. Will have to give it a try tonight.

Some of our friends have a seasonal spot at Morris point so they are up there a lot and they are always talking about that sushi place. They love it.
