So I finally upgraded from my 14ft ultralight with a 9.9 that I was taking on Lake Superior with downriggers mounted on a 2×6 across the oar locks. Anyways I picked up a legend 16xtr with a 90hp merc and while I’ve been rigging it up I noticed this “plug”?? I can’t figure out what it’s for for the life of me help? My only guess is unscrewing it to put a hose in to back flush the bilge system but I have no idea. Thanks

Just a guess but maybe a vent for the gas tank. Is your fill on the same side ?

It is on the same side but gas tank is at the rear end of the boat and there is another vent at the rear I assume is for the gas tank. This doesn’t open to anything and can be unscrewed with a flat head screwdriver.

That certainly appears to be an Attwood fuel tank vent.

My Lund has two vents for the gas. When you fill the tank watch and see if you see any fumes coming out.

    For sure a gas vent.
I should know as I seem to break mine off every year on a dock when I’m camped up on Namakan late summer when the lake levels are lowered. I think I’ve replaced mine 4+ times over the years.
Yours does have a protective sleeve around it tho, thats new to me.

Yep, gas vent. I have the same problem as xplorer, just not on Namakan tongue
