Using Bait Casting reels for Jigging?

    Hey Guys,

    Im considering exchanging out my jigging reels to some baitcasting reels for ease of use when jigging 2 rods. Anyone ever jig with baitcasters before???

    I’m taking a hard look at the Diawa Mega Force reels, which would allow me to let out slack and take out slack (via twitchin’ bar) all with one hand. Seems like it would work out pretty slick for a guy like me who like to jig two rods at a time…

    Any thoughts???

    When vertical jigging I use a bait caster in my left hand and a spinning reel in my right hand. Since I am right handed I had trouble working a reel with my left hand but with a bait caster I can hit the handle against my leg and even reel in slack that way if I have to. One of the tricks I have learned over the years to make fishing two rods as easy and efficent as possible.

    That is exactly what I use while vertical jigging two rods. One left hand reel and one right hand reel. Works awsome for being able to adjust depth with one hand. I would definatly get your self two reels with the twitchin bar. I also use mine for draggin. Talk to dean and he’ll set you up with two diawas with tidemasters. They make a great pair.

    Justin, that is exactly what I did this spring. Megaforce with twitchin bar. Put 10# PP on it. Let me know if you would like to borrow it to try. It has a croix ledgend on it. PM if interisted. -Mark

    I just purchased two Diawa Twitching bar reels rom Dean…He has as good a price as any and the service is unbeatable.

    I thought I wasn’t the only one that had this idea. I figured I would go with one left, and one right when I upgrade here in a few months.

    Figure I might as well trade in the Avids and put em on a couple of 69MLXF Legend Elites as well.
