My Neighbor stopped by last night and said they have been installing these at Warners dock and have had alot of sucsess. I asked if any have had any leaking issues and reply was he hasn’t heard of a complaint yet.

Now, if I could just get myself to drill more holes in my 620

Sure would be nice I’m thinking.

The idea is sound, however as a plumber I don’t trust any type of check valve devices, its to easy for something to get lodged between the mechanical plug and the seal.

    But thats just me.

Like the Bail-R-Matic that was floating around last fall…I asked the inventor about a Zebra mussel plugging it open…. didn’t get a response…

No thanks. I would not even put it on my $5000 boat.

I had Warners install one in my Stratos. Works great. It is not a check valve. It is a plug on a cable like a throttle/emergency brake cable with a lever in the transom are to operate it. IF the cable fails you would have to push it in manually like the normal plug and remove with a pliers from outside the boat. If it fell out it is no different than losing your standard plug. On my Stratos in order to reach the plug you had to literally crawl on the ground so that is why I had them install it.

It is the exact same on the Rangers and a real pain to remove drain plugs. I’ll give this some time, but from what I’ve heard so far, works very well. That’s just hear-say though.

Just have the drain hole gelled shut. Know more drain plugs. I just put in a real powerful bilge pump. In the long run it’s cheaper and you have less worries. I never had any water in the bottom of anyways.

Thanks for the description. Like the Stratos and Ranger my Dnatrac is also a bugger to get to the plug.

My question is the cable obstructing the flow like say leaves or what ever. Usually with leaves you can did them out with a wire or stick. Will the plunger and cable make it tougher to clean out if an obstruction happen to be there? Even so it looks like a good solution.

MN Law says the drain plug has to be out while driving on the road. If you don’t have a drain plug or have it permanently sealed you’d be in violation of that as I see it.

    Don’t waste your money!

My buddy had one one and sunk his boat while being tied up overnight and also had to bring it back to the dock to drain the boat out on another trip because sand and dirt got into the plug system which never allowed it to close up properly

Stay with the old fashioned method…

Pull the plug when leaving the water (manually)
Put the plug back in befeore entering the water (manually)

…and don’t lead the plug in the splash well in the winter!

Although boiling water is one of the services provided at Everts Resort.
