Off Shore Tackle It’s no secret one of the favored ways to catch walleyes in some open-water and river settings is by using in-line planer boards to target certain depths out away from the boat. It’s a rather simple approach — anglers are able to cover more water and present baits at varied speeds.
Off Shore Tackle, one of the leading makers of planer boards, has added the Mini-Planer Board to its product lineup. Patterned after the larger OR12 Side-Planer model, the Mini allows anglers to use lighter tackle in their pursuit of crappie and other inland fish, in addition to stripers and walleye.
According to a news release announcing the product’s launch, the Mini is fishable with just about any rod, reel and line combination. Additionally, they’re reversible through the simple switching of the tow arm from one side of the board to the other. The boards are small enough to fit into a shirt pocket, making them extremely portable, even for shore fishermen on a riverbank.
The Mini-Planer comes packaged one board per poly bag along with instructions, an OR 10 release for the tow arm, a nylon nut, a 6/32-by-1/2-inch screw, split ring and a snap swivel.
