    Hey guys,

We’re putting new sonar on our smaller boat as the old stuff is crappy in the first place and is now shot. We are looking at these two units to have installed. $200ish for the Humminbird and $230ish for the Lowrance (price w/ install).

We have a nice Lowrance GPS unit on our big boat that we’ll wire for the little boat as well, which will be VERY nice as it’s becoming a much easier option to get on and off Mille Lacs right now.

Any opinions on the two models? Looks like the ‘bird has more power, more pixels, and is $30 cheaper. I’d like to know if anybody knows something I don’t….

    Thanks!

I have an X-51, which is the predecessor to the X-52. Don’t bother. They are junk. Generally Lowrance is good, but these units are not.

Humminbird has the 141C for $229 that is the exact same size, and fits the same cutout as the x-51/52 and is color.

I just picked up the Humminbird 383c sonar/GPS, which is also the same size. Just finished mounting it tonoght.
