Likely a season-saving win today against the Stars of all teams. That does feel good waytogo

Dallas is our slump-buster! I still go back to the December 27th game, Wild fly into Dallas that morning, team gets horrible news about Kaprizov and he’s out, then they go win in OT. Dallas is our get-right team jester

Crazy thing about Ovi breaking the record is that he missed about the equivalent of 2 NHL seasons due to the lockout and covid shortened seasons… 2!!

He’s likely be close to 1,000 goals if he played them…

Crazy that Gretzky is still 1200 something points in front of 8. Fun to watch today. Kind of glad the game didn’t have really playoff implications as the celebration which was deserved really halted that game.

Don’t be a fun hater Rip! Gretzky is still the great one. Nothing is changing that. Ovi is now the goal scoring leader and he’s earned it. Two way different eras and we can argue for weeks about how each of them would do in each other’s era but it’s useless. Gretz was all class about this whole thing which says a lot. Dickerson who was threatened with losing his record in the NFL said no, that’s my record I don’t want anyone to break it.

Not hating at all. I just thinks it’s wild the all time leading goal scorer with 895 goals is still 1200 points behind the point leader.

That would be similar to Emmit smith rushing yards and TD record. Or Bonds HR record being roughly a third behind the RBI leader. I find that stat just as interesting.

Pretty sure I said it was fun to watch.

Not sure what Eric Dickerson has to do with any of it as that was a single season record. This is an all time career record. Pretty different IMO.

Its different for sure. I was just saying the way Gretzky handled this is vastly different than Dickerson. Gretzky was all class. Granted, he knew no one will ever come close to the total points record.

Getting ek and Kaprizov back does not guarantee we’ll be any better right away. They’ll likely need a couple games to back to form, especially post season form. Never know though, Kaprizov could come out on fire after sitting so long.

If both those guys come back for the Calgary game and that game alone decides who is in or out, think about the energy having them back is going to bring. Too bad it’s not at home. The X would be wild on Friday night in a do or die situation with two top players back.

Its not a win and in game (at least not with todays standings) but it will heavily influence the outcome…

I believe the magic number is 3?

Sounds like alot of KHL teams are not releasing players out of contracts that expire in the next few months in an attempt to try and persuade them to re-sign… looks like Yurov’s team is one of them…

We heard about this a year or so ago that the KHL would increase pressure on keeping their young stars vs letting them go to the NHL… I guess it all depends on what the NHL team is willing to pay the KHL team to let them go…Rumors are Philly paid a ton of $ to get Mitchkov out of his KHL contract…

This kind of drama is what leads to the “Russian Factor” come draft day…it’s always a wild card getting them to your team, nothing is done by the book (because Russia doesn’t follow a book)

It’s been reported the wild would not try and buy out the rest of this year and try to get him over this year but yes there is that risk of him resigning again. Also probably a risk just to try and get him over here.

I’d be happy to get the full 3rd year of his ELC if he signs AFTER this season, but its just worrisome…Russo just put out a story that he DIDN’T sign last season with the Wild because his agent demanded B level bonuses get added to his ELC and because B level bonuses MUST be part of your team’s capspace, the Wild just couldn’t fit them in cap wise (even though the B level bonuses most likely wouldn’t be attainted by Yurov) Russo said the team would include them next season as they have the capspace to do so….

Right. They can’t afford to sign him this year. I’m sure they will
Make it as difficult to sign him next year as well but hopefully he is willing and ready to play in the NHL right out of the gate.

    Huh?

They would have needed to figure out how to fit another $2.5 million in capspace at the start of this season when they only had pennies of space left, even though there’s likely no chance he would have met any of the B bonuses

    “B” Level Bonuses:

-Forwards: Top Ten in NHL Forward Goals, Assists, points, or points per game (min 42 GP)

-Defensemen: Top Ten in NHL Defensemen Goals, Assists, points, ice time or points per game (min 42 GP) for Defensemen

-Win any of the following trophies: Hart, Selke, Richard, Conn Smythe, Norris

    -1st or 2nd team All-Star

From my understanding is the bonuses would still count against the cap this year regardless if they get met or paid. It has been reported many times the wild have no interest in buying his contract out early and trying to sign him this year during the playoffs.

Not sure what the Huh? Part was but my other statement was about his current team trying to sign him again to another 1 year deal before his actual contract is up and we all know that these Russians have no desire to play in Iowa so hopefully he is NHL ready right away because signing a contract almost guarantees him a spot on the big club.

I thought you were talking about the Wild…that’s why it made no sense to me..

The B bonuses count against the current year cap no matter what, the A bonuses met count against the following year…

Gotcha yeah I meant his current club I am sure will try to pressure him into signing another 1 year deal in the next month or so.

for sure…from what he said in an interview last summer, his plan was to head for the NHL after this season, we’ll see…

it sure sounds like the Wild might roll the dice and try to keep Kirill and Ek out until the playoffs to give them maximum recoup time UNLESS they MUST win one of the final games to get into the playoffs…If they win their next 2 games and Calgary loses it won’t matter…

If they win their next 2 games

Let’s be honest here. God help us if they lose at home to the Sharks.

It’s Demidov season in Montreal. Nikishin to Carolina up next.

I think it goes to show if the Wild truly wanted Yurov right now, he would be here

Go back a few posts, we couldn’t afford his bonuses with our cap at the start of the season and Russo said the Wild felt his KHL team brought him back early from surgery and they want his ankle to fully heal is a reason he’s not brought over right now? Who knows??

Russians are wildcards, although it feels like the bigger franchises dont have problems getting their Russians signed and brought over…

hopefully he signs June 1st and comes to MN early to acclimate and we get 3 full ELC seasons vs 2…

If they keep them out I’d say GMBG owes the fans an answer on why he didn’t use their LTIR at the deadline…

    But

What would you expect him to say? “I didn’t want to move major assets when we’re not good enough this year?” of course not, he’ll give some canned answer that they were tricky injuries and they just didn’t know how ling they would be out….

It is what it is, at least we’ll be closest all season to fully healthy for the playoffs…

If Yurov were in the Demidov or Nikishin talent tier, he’d be signed by now. They’d make it work, bonuses and elc years be damned

Unbelievable, Vancouver keeps its slim playoff chances alive by scoring 3 goals in the final minute to tie Dallas and then wins in OT!

    wasn’t Kirill?

Wasn’t Kirill what?? Kirill came over during the start of covid, and NHL covid bubble rule didn’t allow him to play that summer. Yet they still were willing to sign him immediately and burn a year of his ELC. Obviously the opposite Yurov, seems they’re more than willing to risk not burning the year. If they really wanted Yurov they would be burning the ELC year right now

That vancouver dallas game was absolutely bonkers. Dallas with 3 powerplay goals to start the game gave me ptsd
