What’s the best way to fix a leaky rivet on a 16′ aluminum starcraft boat? I’ve heard i need to pound the rivet back together and/or use some 5200.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

On the boats on our fly in trips, which get dragged/portaged over rocks, we drill out the rivets and spray flex seal and install a new slightly bigger rivet. Seals right up !

I’ve had good luck with marine JB Weld. There is also a rivet kit you can get online that has a washer on it.

I stopped a bunch of leaks on our 14ft portage boat (treated poorly, beat to hell) by painting the leaking rivets with “Gluvit”

It worked like a charm. Very good product.

Gluvit works great, Ive remodeled a handful of old “tin” lunds using it.

I believe you can re-buck the old rivet if you have access to the inside. Have done this on a couple old boats with good results.
