Good for you. I took a quick look and will probably sign up later. The prices seemed reasonable.

    x2 Good looking site.

My guess is spring cleaning. It’s nice having a bunch of stuff but if you never use it, it just becomes a pile. This year I went through every drawer and closet in our house. Emptying everything and only putting back the stuff we have used. We have had some stuff for 5 years and have not used it. Gone. One would be surprised at all the extra stuff they have.

I thought this post was going to be on the stupid amount of money we spend on fishing. I like your sign better. My wife got me one that says social drinker with a fishing problem.

The paved paths are nice but the mountain bike trails are more entertaining. I started biking again with my son last year and there is nothing like the feeling of catching some air for the first time in decades. He would always get bored with the flat paths. I was very surprised on how many trails are out there. Google maps pulls up a bunch of trails. Main thing is to get out there and try one. Good or bad you are still off a tablet. Lebanon Hills is my favorite in the area.

I keep looking at 3D printers. They are getting very cheap for small ones. (compared to 5 years ago). It would be fun to do some projects like what your son did for you. The local library has a 3D printer that you can book a time to make some small projects for free if someone wants to play before buying one. There are tons of files you can download if you don’t want to do your own design work.

Hobo tip: put a layer of cabbage in between all the fixings and tinfoil. This will keep everything else from burning. The cabbage that doesn’t burn adds some great flavor for the tent later.

NFC is absolutely buyer beware. I wouldn’t order anything you need sooner than 12 months and then hope for 3-6 months. They do make some dynamite blanks at pretty good prices and decent carbon grips if you like that – all made in USA. Their distribution and customer service is horrendous across the board – very well documented

I 100% agree with this statement. I have built on many of their blanks and it always takes a long time to get them. Great blanks. You just have to wait. I wouldn’t order anything from them that you can’t wait for next season to have. Months late is still on time for them.

I was told you can have them sign any waiver you want but they won’t stand up in court.

I read this also and that doesn’t make any sense to me. I will allow you to ride my toys if you agree not to sue me if you get hurt riding them. Then you get hurt riding them and sue? Wait, what?

First question is are your guides on your rod big enough for the bobber stop to pass through without getting hung up?

Style or type of dock might help. It will be harder to find someone if you have one of the style of docks that suck to put in.
    Good luck.

My son and I were out for bass league last night. He tapped the first two docks, we skipped the third because of a canopy, and the fourth dock he went for Plinko. redface That was the end of our dock fishing. We covered and talked about many of the points that were brought up in this thread. Tonight he will be practicing in the yard making it into a coffee can. We will be skipping docks for a bit until he gets better with his aim. BTW the dog thing was just for a laugh. If there are dogs or even people on the dock we skip it. I have had a dog jump off the dock and chase my bait down. Then wanted to get into my boat.

we like to make a game out of plinking shoreline structure, canopy 1 point, boat 1 point, dock 1 point, electronics 2 points, and misc points for other items.
I made a record setting 16points one cast on gull lake with a senko, casted into the trump flag(3pts) which then fell onto canopy(1), whipped the bait laterally to other canopy(easy point, right next to each other), dragged off into boat popping the 12″ bow fishfinder on the way down(3), popped it onto the dock(1), hopped into kayak in the water(1), then popped the floating trampoline(1) reeling in and got a 23″ largie sitting underneath(5pts). I tried snagging the ice cream cone from the homeowners kid floating in their duck raft but can’t get lucky w everything

That must be a high score. Well done. I am trying to add up my best score. How many points for hitting a dog in the butt hole? The homeowner called him during mid cast so I missed his forehead. I just don’t know why someone would call their dog [email protected]#$!^@!$!##&*@% &^!&@#!. I am sure his grand kids named him.

I can understand hitting a dock by mistake. But a canopy? That is a bit off. Move closer if you need to make shorter cast to help your aim.

I’ll go to Buffalo Wild Wings and get a burger, beer/pop, fries, and 6 boneless wings for $15 and have plenty of food for lunch the next day too!

    How?
6 boneless wings are $8.99 + $1 for each ranch or blue cheese at BW.

I normally bring my lunch to work. The days I don’t I will call in an order for pickup at a couple of different places. I don’t get a pop with my call in but the food is much better and at the same price or less than McDs. It also take less time to run in and grab a pick up order than go through a drive through.

Last time my wife enjoyed 5 guy’s, it was all over her face. Just a mess.

Lil bacon cheeseburger is 9 bucks, just had one, delicious. Certainly enough for any adult.

I stopped at 5 Guys on my way up to Mille Lacs Friday night for dinner. I always felt pop was a rip off anywhere and normally get water. Went with the free shelled peanuts and Lil bacon cheeseburger with the works and sauteed mushrooms, onions, and green peppers, around $10. Just the right amount of food. I can see how you might not feel you are getting your value worth if you don’t get all the fixings.

Jimmy John’s full size Gargantuan is $23.39 without any chips or pop. Add chips and pop it is $30.28 for one person.

Last week my son wanted some root beer and requested some 1919. So my wife bought it without looking. $22.49 for a 12 pack of pop.

I was at the airport last week and got a single Whopper meal for $26. It was the only food available.

Sweet rig. I hope it came stock with some nice rod lockers and they are used so your custom rods don’t get stepped on. doah It’s a good thing you are unsure of how to use your electronics. That will leave a couple of fish left for the rest of us. Good luck. toast

The bigger problem is with your power out, how are you keeping your beer cold? I don’t think that is the proper way to ground a transformer. I can’t believe they do this. That is crazy.

Might as well do it right the first time. Or think about it every time you look at or use it, have your OCD kick up, and you redo it just because it was not done right.

110v would be easer to hook up to a standard outlet but 240v will be way more efficient.

I make my own. You can get into it for less than you think. I used to sell a bunch of them every year. If you are just starting off use your wife, girlfriend, mom’s, someone’s nail polish and paint the jig head. Buy a couple of bucktails and some rod building thread. I prefer rod building thread since it is the same A size but is much stronger than most out there. Add some head cement and go fishing. There is not much to it. Even the ugly, first attempt jigs will catch fish.

I tried hit and release last night

Looks like the recall worked and it didn’t start on fire.

The only rods I will use are Tiny Rodwork Custom. They perform better than they look and the builder is a cool guy. roll

I have no brand loyalty to the blanks I use. I have ordered from over 25 different manufacturers. I bought one blank and thought it was great so I picked up another blank in the same line but different action and thought it sucked. The same material makeup in the blank is not the best for all applications.

With baitcasting reels I have all Shimano. Tried others and kept going back.

I am a lot like Bearcat. Lots of extra stuff and more than I could use in a season. I still hoard my tackle. As I make new rods I hand my other stuff down to kids that would use it.

I have been working on this new sturgeon rod with a maple, cherry, and walnut handle and another one for an IDO member. I just had 4 leave my shop and I forgot to take a pictures of them.
