So, anyone have actual ice reports to share? Few ponds and smaller lakes in the twin cities are iced over already. Nothing walkable though.

Saw someone out on Bush in Bloomington yesterday. Albeit not far from the landing. A few open/sketchy spots it looked like, but maybe a few inches out there?

I’m sure this storm won’t help but I’m gonna try to check a few other lakes this weekend. Minnewashta had ice near the landing that should be walkable.

Seen a few folks driving out on Minnewashta. 13″ everywhere I checked, which is probably the minimum I’d go out on. Everyone’s chasing that crappie bite, but I pulled up 6 bass the other day. Definitely a fun, varied lake.

    Yeah, Calhoun.

Should be plenty of parking along the parkway near 36th. Then just a short trek out to that area.

I will say, never caught a perch over 6in out there, but if you find them it’s typically one after another.

The drop offs from the flat straight off from 36th St have always been good to me. A lot of perch, few walleye even. Just gotta find the right depth, which seems to vary day to day.

Got out to Minnewashta yesterday. Slayed some big sunnies and even a few crappies in shallow water. Few other guys out there. The basin that gets all the attention had about 10″ of ice on it now, so I expect there to be a few permanents out there soon.

Anyone been out here recently for smallies? I marked a few rock piles last time I was out, but it was pretty packed with boaters and hard to stay on top of a few of them. Getting to mid-summer now so they should be out deep…

Was out yesterday on calhoun (and the last few saturdays), 20-25 fow, probably 50 small perch and couple of larger marks that I couldn’t keep pinned. Has only one eye so far this year. This colder weather has the bite slowing down. Surprisingly no sunnies or bass when I move to a shallower weed edge? But I’m assuming they’re just piled up somewhere.
