I run a powerhorse 2200 about $600. It runs a camper ac, not much louder than my honda 2000. My brother takes it to LOW when he spend a week up there on the ice and said it actually worked better than his honda 2000 when it got real cold. He didn’t elaborate on why it worked better or in what regards. I love my honda 2000 but am very pleased with the powerhorse as well.

Bought the wifes with 150k on it, my dad bought his with 130k on it from a friend who is meticulous on maintenance. I am mechanically savvy but by know means a mechanic. My understanding is the lifters collapse to obtain 4 cy. mode and when the get gummy from poor oil they get stuck in the collapsed mode. My dad runs the gm specified oil, I have run royal purple.

My wife has a 2010 yukon with AFM 230k on it bone stock and no issues. Dad has a 2015 sierra with AFM with 260k on it bone stock and works as it should as well. Good oil always used and changed every 5k

    Fish dip
1 smoked tulibee pulled apart into flakes
8 oz package of cream cheese softened
    salt
    dill
    1/4 onion diced
    mayo

Mix smoked tulibee and cream cheese, add mayo to soften mixture so it is easy to spread on a cracker. Add dill and salt to taste. Makes a pint jars worth refidgerate for 24 hours then spread on cracker of choice.

Also smoked whitefish cakes, choose any recipe, pan fry, put on toast with a tarter sauce and a leaf of lettuce goes over very well.

had a gen 2 3.8 in a 2003 pontiac bonneville that I had 322,000 on the clock when it finally died original motor and trans. It would have lasted longer but I neglected it as I was tired of the car (you will likely get tired of the vehicle before the motor goes bad). Currently dailying a 2008 impala with the 3.9 and is 1400 miles away from the 300k mark with original motor and trans. Both did burn a little oil, I added a quart between every oil change it seems, but the engines both ran strong (at least up until the day the 3.8 died but I am sure running it low on oil and coolant didn’t help that).

The foam I added helped a bit, on -10 days or colder I scoop the skim ice off every 15 minutes or so.

Yeah they were not very deep and pulled out quite easy. It is crazy how quills can migrate!

The whole day yesterday was a learning process as the dog and myself are new to grouse hunting, so getting a few flushes was pretty nice.

Went out yesterday, 3 flushes on grouse, and 4 woodcock flushed. got two woodcock and a snowshoe hare. The hare was unusual as I have never saw one. Oh and dog found out about quill pigs.

2 years ago I got bit by a wolf spider, exact same thing happened as you described. Bite was in my ankle and swelled and turned purpleish and looked bruised. I didn’t run a huge fever but did have a slight fever. Sounds like a common occurrence with wolf spider bites.

I will agree with Bigwerm and RJ, night bite is always good in the area, for me and the lakes I fish in the DL area and north of Park Rapids they tend to go shallow at night. Inside weed edges in 3-7 FOW. I typically start fishing around 6:30 pm and go to 10 pm on weeknights and do very well starting in 27 fow and end in 15 fow. On the weekends I will start around 9:30 and go to midnight (to avoid recreational traffic) trolling cranks in the 3-7 fow range.

The ultrex and ulterra were already around 3k for the 36v so it doesn’t surprise me to see the others coming in around the same price.

Plus the Lowrance motor can be 24v or 36v by flipping a switch and both Lowerance and Garmin are brushless, so it seems to me you may be getting more bang for your buck with these two. Just wished it didn’t cost so much.

I started with the Shakespeare rod real combo, it will get you into it for cheap, I now use that rod as a line counter with braid. I have the cabelas combo and scheels combo for lead core now. I use the scheels rod predominately and when they put it together the scheels reel came out of an Okuma box. I also like that the scheels rod telescopes down to 6′-6″ at the handle to fit into a rod locker. To me the real is the most important part of a lead core combo.

I have ran into one at an access, wanted to see license and catch and was very nice and and was quick in his process, a few times by sheriff for safety equipment checks, once while turkey hunting beings I was in a area turkey hunting was not allowed (I read the rules and map wrong) he was very nice and realized I made a stupid mistake and left me with a verbal warning, and last week twice by the local police as I was loading my boat at midnight at the local access and they mainly just wanted to know how I did fishing.

The depth finder has a inline fuse, I will check my ground connections and go from there. Thanks!

Mine is always out, I have a vertical “wall” under my passenger console that I may Velcro it to so its out of the way. As of now it just sits on the floor.

I have had good luck with GM but I am a GM guy, as does our company. We have ran ford and gm vehicles and are currently almost all gm now for different reasons. On our GM vehicles the 5.3 lasts but can give you trouble with the DOD (displacement on demand) or 4 cyl. mode with stuck lifters. If caught right away you can repair the lifters and keep on going. Fords have also had issues with timing chains and other valve train issues.

Both have their pros and cons, and you can hear equal amounts of horror stories on either. And once you ask which one is more reliable that’s when you get the biased reviews typically.

If this is just a tow rig I would opt for finding something with 4.10 gears or 3.73 gearing at least. It will hurt mileage but if you are just towing Id rather have the right combo and pay more at the pump.

It would be nice if all the big name outboard manufacturers got on board with this company, or come up with their own remote tether.

It would add peanuts to the cost of a new boat, and save lives, limbs and property.

We got to use a Crestliner basshawk last year and had a remote key fob that would not let you start the motor without the fob in the boat.

I do not know if this was an option or if it was standard or if it was just for this demo boat but I did like the idea. (was frustrating when I didn’t know that system was on the boat though)

Edit, it was this system installed on the basshawk. The boat was a 2019 model factory demo so not sure if they typically come with them or not. Was pretty slick though.

I have the Muck Wetlands, going on 3 years now. If I am active in the winter I have been comfortable in them down to -15 with wool socks on but I have to be active. I also wear them throughout the year. Between mid summer scouting for deer, stream fishing, hunting season, ice fishing, trapping and spring turkey season they are always being put on. Feet will sweat above 45 if pretty active but I guess I have never been bothered by it. By the looks of them this will be their last year of use but I guess that’s pretty good as shoes are typically worn out after a few years of use not including the abuse the mucks have gone through.

I am sure the Lacrosse boots are very good options as well but have never tried them.

I use just about all my stuff through out the year, granted I do not keep a ton of tackle. I fish 3-5 times a week through the whole year but only have 7 tackle trays. Cranks and spinner/lindy rigs are about the only thing that don’t go with me everywhere. All ice fishing tackle has found a place in my boat.

I wear my ice fishing suit on really cold days/rainy days and does pretty well for that. I use my vexilar in kayaks, and my portables bar light to add more light in the boat on occasion. My permanent shack has pedestals in it that share the same seats as my boat as well. I try to keep as much stuff in use year round as possible.

Nice birds guys! I went out with the bow, only heard a couple gobbles while coming off the roost, drew back on what looked to be a jake but could not see any beard so passed. Only bird that offered any sort of shot, no gobbling besides at fly down which made it tough for me.

Another thing is power band. My example is a 2003 gmc envoy 4.2 vs 04 chevy s10 4.3.

S10 making max hp of 190 and 240 tq at around 3500 RPM

Envoy max hp of 270 and 240 tq at 4900 rpm

The S10 pulls better because it actually was making more power at an RPM range you would see in real world driving situations, where the envoy though making more max power made it at a very high RPM range meaning I had to have the pedal to the metal to make any real power.

I put the 10mm socket back in its proper place yesterday…spent 5 minutes looking for it under the car and on top of the engine…

Every work space just needs a dedicated drawer filled to the brim with 10mm, 13mm, 15mm, 7/16, 1/2, and 9/16 sockets and wrenches.

After doing an intake manifold gasket on my pickup I spent 1 hr trying to figure out why it wouldn’t start. Forgot to hook up distributor cap to the coil. Who knew you need spark for a engine to function.

Nice job! I am going to boil about 90 gallons Saturday and we will see what the trees do after that, I have no buds yet and sap is looking great still so I figured I will keep it going until the sap goes sour.

Ill take a look at yard sales, thanks for the idea popcorn!

Thanks for the offer John but I am pretty stuck on the $200 dollar mark as it is a trapping expense and that’s what I have left over from fur sales.

If I remember correctly (coworker just bought a pilot to pull his 17′ alumacraft) the tow rating is in the area of 5,000 lbs. It will pull it I am sure. Keep it in the tow rating but regardless it will not be an enjoyable pull. I think beings you are planning on getting a pickup in the next couple of years you shouldn’t have a problem pulling the boat for that period of time.
