Lake Winnebago

Been out a bunch prefishing for an upcoming tournament and the hot pattern seems to be topwater frogs in the matts. Duckweed and under trees seem to be the best as the fish are trying to hide from the mid eighties water temps. Poygan and Wolf River back waters have produced a couple fish over 4 pounds and limits everytime out. If you wander to Winnebago, mixed bags of large and smallmouths have been caught on wind blown points with rock. East side of the lake is where the most have been caught. Gambler’s brown crawdaddy and 1/4 oz weight are the ticket and change to a Carolina Rig if the wind gets really strong. Best depth is 5-8 feet but try shallow if fish are active.

    Good Luck
