Coletrain was that deli meat salty?? Last time I got that from the deli it was really salty .

I struggle finding decent meat to make Philly sammiches! doah

I didn’t think it was over salty to me. I actually got this sliced up at the Walmart deli today and it was good. I know what you mean some of them get so salty for me also.

OK guys, here is the wild rice mushroom dish. The original recipe is in a 1973 Good Housekeeping cookbook I inherited from my mom. I have adapted it. Some may want to add some salt (the original recipe specified 1 1/2 tsp), but I think there is enough in the beef consommé. Just made it again yesterday. Third time this month. Anyone have a line for naturally harvested wild rice? I’m out!! lol

    Mushroom Wild Rice

    Ingredients:
4 tbsp butter or margarine (I use 2 tbsp of each)
    1 large onion, chopped
    1 pound mushrooms, sliced
1 10 1/2 ounce can of beef consommé
    2/3 cup water
    1 cup wild rice

    Wild rice prep:
-Place wild rice in a sauce pan
-Boil enough water in a separate pan to cover it and pour over the rice
-Cover and let cool to room temperature ~45-60 minutes
    -Drain water
    -Repeat 2 more times

    Directions:
    -Preheat oven to 350 °F
-In a large skillet or sauce pan over medium heat, melt butter/margarine
and cook the onion and mushrooms until onion is tender
-Stir in water and beef consommé and heat to boiling
-Transfer prepped wild rice to a casserole/baking dish
-Pour onion/mushroom mixture over the wild rice and mix
    -Cover and bake 40 minutes
-Remove cover and bake an additional 30 minutes or until all liquid is
    absorbed

    For reheating leftovers:
-Preheat toaster oven set on convection bake to 400 °F
-Spray a foil-lined pan with cooking oil and spread around with paper
    towel
-Spread out wild rice/mushrooms on pan
-Bake for 15 minutes (this dries out the rice some and toasts some of the
kernels giving them a nice crunch)

I have to chime in! No fault of Sheldon’s that my back side wasn’t working! (Boy could I get a little millage out of that statement! devil devil devil )

I went to Sheldon so he could replace my trailer hitch “complete” from the truck ball to the surge brake fluid line attachment and electrical 2 wire solenoid connection. After all the fanfare of passing a little hand crafted meat for him and Sparkles on the Water (aka Sheryl aka his “Loving Wife” and then passing on the tastey pour for his special day I headed home.

Ladies and gents, trust me I have complete faith in Sheldon’s abilities! I headed home after circling around a few of the blocks of the Huge City of Kellogg! rotflol After returning home I immediately tried to back into my drive, “NODDA”! Pulled forward, “NODDA” once again. Called the man, as I pulled around the block to park it on the street to deal with it in the morning. We talked and he gave me a few items to look into.

After going through the fuses that Sheldon suggested and reversing some to be sure that they were not blown, I was calling it quits for the night. I was having issues of back spasms all day yesterday and was needing to find a comfortable chair and rest. As I popped open the topper to set my step stool, fuse cover and any thing else I had out so I could “Throw in the Towel” last night, I happened to see my trailer adapter plug that went from the 7 pin round to a 5 pin flat. The truck 7 pin was setting about normal, the new trailer 5 pin plug was at a 20 degree angle and I thought hum, maybe turning a corner had loosened it? Nope!

For whatever the reason the newer 5 pin flat was loosey goosey in my old 7 round to 5 flat adapter! What?? Seems not right to me as the old one was fairly snug in comparison. I looked for a spare I thought I had and thinking back I gave it to someone else that was in need at the time, I purchased a new one. It was rather tight in the new 5 pin flat plug and I then plugged the 7 pin round into the truck and Tied to move forward and then in reverse without any issues! Problem solved!

Seems odd to me that old to old was snug, new to old was really sloppy and new to new was tight, (at least that was a reasonable scenario). Any hoo, The man that y’all call “IowaBoy1” is still ok in my book and for that matter most likely will always be!! “Ouy, A Toast to ya my friend!”

    Many Thanks my friend,
    Denny O

I had some excitement last night grilling brats and making beans. The day before I used the griddle on my bullseye to make bacon and brown hamburger (for the beans) yesterday I was cooking a dozen brats and hotdogs and the beans. The brats and dogs were done and since it was so nice outside I was just sitting there watching the show. Then I noticed grease dripping down from the lid onto my deck which hasnt happened before. Then I went to open the lid and there was a massive fire in there. Burned all the hair off my right hand! Beans were ruined because it got so hot and I had a foil tray in there to control dripping, but I know there is a temp point where aluminum makes a toxic gas so I had to pitch them. I turned the bullseye off to let it burn itself out which took like 10 minutes.

Bacon is never a wrong answer. Nor Walleye. The two together look yummy. Never would have thought of that one.
