This May or may not be able to answer till I get home but here goes. I purchased a Lund Rebel with a Helix 9 SI in back. It has a TM Terrova that “talks to the 9. I want to add an older 7 upfront and really only want to share waypoints between units. What to I need? I fish mostly small lakes. Will be home in a week to add pictures but was thinking of picking everything up befor I get there. Thanks

What do I need

What does “talks to the 9” mean? Does that mean the Terrova has ipilot Link? Or just using the built in transducer?
The “older 7” needs to be network capable to connect to the 9, which is noted with a “N” in the model number like Helix 7 G3N.
March 22, 2023 at 9:33 am #2190360Good stuff blank. If your displays are both network capable, here’s a link that describes what you’ll need to do it:
March 22, 2023 at 12:56 pm #2190427The nine does have i-Pilot. The 7 is networkable. Thanks folks
Sorry to ask basic questions.
March 22, 2023 at 1:33 pm #2190443They may seem like basic questions, but it’s kind of mess to sort it all out. No need to apologize for the questions.
You mean the Terrova has i-pilot. But does it have i-pilot LINK? Meaning you have the bigger screen remote and can do follow the contour? Or just basic i-pilot with the smaller remote?
Assuming that it is LINK, then you will need a Humminbird ethernet switch to connect both Helix units and the Terrova. That’s the only way that you can share waypoints while also using the i-pilot Link features since each unit only has just 1 ethernet port and there aren’t splitter cables.
March 23, 2023 at 8:14 pm #2190875If you expand the first pic you can see the connection of the 9. Ethernet switch is a must. Thanks
March 24, 2023 at 8:01 am #2190931Yup, you’ll need the ethernet switch and another ethernet cable to connect the other helix unit if you want to share waypoints and utilize the ipilot link for either helix.
Additionally, you need map cards with each helix as they don’t share maps. They can only share waypoints.
March 24, 2023 at 8:47 am #2190952Thanks Blank I have the map cards so I’m good there. I was getting confused (easily done) on networking them together.
Thanks again
April 3, 2023 at 9:15 pm #2193149So does this connector go to the front fish finder. I’m not sure my Helix seven is networkable. So in that case will just use it up front as down image. Will attach some pics. The back story is I bought this boat in the fall and first time on water is coming.
April 3, 2023 at 9:39 pm #2193159Yes, that is the transducer cable for the built in universal sonar transducer. You will need an adapter cable to connect to the Helix.
On the back side of the Helix there should be a sticker by the connections that will say what model it is. That will identify if it’s a network unit “N”.
The transducer on the Terrova is the universal sonar transducer “US2”. You will not be able to see down imaging with that transducer, just 2D. You could however run the cable from the transom to the front to see the DI from the back if you really wanted to.
April 4, 2023 at 5:56 am #2193189April 4, 2023 at 8:49 am #2193227Unfortunately that helix is NOT able to be networked to another unit or use iPilot LINK. You will be able to use the US2 transducer on the Terrova just fine, with this adapter cable. US2 Adapter Cable / MKR-US2-8 – HB 7-Pin
In order to utilize the LINK features like follow the contour you will need to use the Helix 9 that you have in back by connecting the ethernet cable from the Terrova back to the Helix 9. You will need this ethernet adapter cable. AS EC QDE – ETHERNET ADAPTER CABLE
April 4, 2023 at 2:56 pm #2193336Not to highjack this thread but a similar question.
I have a Helix 10 SI Gen1 and adding a Helix 10 MSI G4N. I plan to use the old Helix for mapping only. If I want to connect the units together (sitting 10 inches apart) do I really need to get adapter cables and a 5 ft ethernet cable to connect them or is there another solution?
Thanks!April 9, 2023 at 9:33 pm #2194705Okay have everything mounted. The dongle cable hooks up to the unit but it’s too big for the transducer cable. Anyone know the right part number?
April 9, 2023 at 10:23 pm #2194711I assume you’re talking about the Helix 7 up front. The correct transducer dongle is MKR-US2-8 – HB 7-Pin
It connects to this cable end. It’s the smallest diameter of the 3 cables from the Terrova (transducer, ethernet, foot pedal).
