    Although it was a catch and release record, it could have very well been the official catch and kill record that’s at 70 lbs for MN and 74 lbs for WI.

    It was very unselfish of this fella to release it for other to catch (and spawn).

    With the increased popularity of CPR records do you think we will come to a time where anglers could buy a state certified scale to have on the boat for when a potential record breaker was hooked? Then all they would have to do would be measure length and girth and then weigh it, take a pic and let her go.

    I wouldn’t be in favor of that MF14.

    There are some (I feel) that would with the C&R mindset but once it’s known that it did break the kill record might decided to kill it. We can weight them now provided there’s a 100 pound scale in the boat although not an official weight.

    And the scale would need to be recertified each year.
