I put up some adjustable bracket shelving to lay my rods across. Last night I was lessoning to some music and one of the brackets just fell off. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on something I can buy or make to hold them from popping up?

Maybe just stop listening to hip hop with a 12” subwoofer.

I don’t lesson to hip hop (unless someone request it) and don’t have a speaker that small in the shop.

It is. I just have a modest system with a 15” mid bass speaker, 15” woofer, and compression horn in each corner with a 21” subwoofer. Things move even at low volume. High pass filter set to 35Hz so the neighbors windows stop shaking. I had lots of problems before the high pass filter. Something would hit 15Hz and my peg board would clear off.

Why not just shim it from both sides or the top if there is room.

Fantastic idea. I have some that should be the right size.

It helps having a fully stocked whiskey and beer fridge for volunteers. toast Sipping and pointing is hard.

I know this is likely supposed to be a sarcastic thread, however in my head I just can’t help fix a problem. Those brackets are supposed to be tapped down with a hammer to wedge in place. They will become almost permanent doing so. Then just a couple taps upwards will break them free.

*now back to your regularly scheduled thread*

This was started as a serious question. I did tap them down with a dead blow hammer. Since there is not much weight on them they vibrate loose and the bracket holding the rod tips will fall off. I think adding a bungy like CaptionMusky suggested will keep them from working its way off.

The bungy cord worked perfect. Good call Captain.

Munchy you seriously underestimate rodworks system.

Why do I picture a Halloween party that suddenly ends w an imploded sink hole of what was rodworks entire property?

I think you can still rattle those shelves off even with that little bungy, I know you’ll certainly try.

Now we wait for the next post in a couple weeks… ‘What’s the strongest bungy to hold your shelves on the wall?’ And in true IDO fashion anything less than a 4″ 20,000 lb ratchet strap or a log chain will be labelled as underpowered.

Sweet! I figured that might be the simplest solution with something already laying around the house.

    Or just weld it…

    Or just weld it…

That kind of defeat the purpose of using adjustable shelving. But would be the next step if the bungy cord fails.

You know what I’m hearing? That you need more weight! (aka more rods)

I would try a self tapping screw at the top of the slot. It will prevent it from shimmying up and falling.

Damn you B-man. That song keeps popping up in my head now. She was flat from 18Hz to 19.5kHz @ 115dB. Had to lose some of the bass. So it is now flat from 32Hz to 19.5kHz. No treble.
Disclaimer: I don’t play it that loud. Just had to test to it.
