    Anyone have luck trout fishing on Grindstone lake near Hinckley? I tried it Saturday in my Kayak and ended up catching two smelt on a blade bait! I am thinking early in the year may be better.

    I stopped there a couple years ago on my way home from Mille Lacs in mid July and caught an 18″ Rainbow by accident.

    Used to fish it quite a bit five to ten years ago, fun lake to fish, nice trout and fatty pike out there! Mostly ice fished it myself, but I have caught fish from shore off the south end. G’luck

    I fished it on opener this year and zero’ed. The theory was like you said, the earlier the better, and the cold opener would present a unique opportunity. It didn’t work out so well. Oh well I’ll try again sometime.
