I currently have a early 2000s 55lb auto pilot with co pilot and am thinking about upgrading to a 70lb power drive v2 with universal sonar. The unit is not new but is in good working condition from a Minn Kota service tech. I am thinking about adding I pilot in the future, I know you can only use the remote when the I pilot is hooked up. I have heard there can be problems with the foot petal. Is there many issues with these motors?
How is the spot lock on your I pilot? I have heard mixed reviews on those.

Best advice is to carry an extra ipilot remote battery…mines died on me twice on the lake after i neglected to change it for the first trip on the year… and it makes for a long trip…once u get the hang of the ipilot features its the cats behind…
The Spot-Lock has been upgraded for 2017, so presumably the issues with it have been resolved. Not many users yet, so hard to know if it is as good as advertised. Make sure you buy the new version. Stores might still have last year’s in stock. See the Minn-Kota website here:
