What a fantastic way to kick off the 2012 season. The unseasonably warm weather and early ice off afforded Pasha Lake Cabin’s guests a great opportunity to fish during a time they would otherwise be staring at ice. May has been absolutely gorgeous with temps hitting the mid 60’s and 70’s. That makes fishing a whole whack of fun!

Big brook trout (or “specks” as the locals call them) on Lake Nipigon and trophy northern on the inland lakes have proved to be a very fun combination for daily angling. Give it another week or so and we will start seeing those Nipigon monster northerns as well.

My favorite story from this week comes from the Parna group from Southern Ontario. They lived the Pasha Lake Cabins experience to a tee! In a week of fishing, they landed trophy brook trout, trophy northern pike, white fish and lake trout. But the fishing was only the icing on the cake. They tell me the most enjoyable aspect of their vacation was the daily adventures including travels down rugged logging roads, portaging their boat, accessing remote lakes and being alone in the middle of nowhere. Not a bad trip considering the mother in their group suffers from severe arthritis in over 70% of her body. Way to go guys!

Looking forward – the Walleye season kicks off this week (May 19th). Also, as the water temps continue to warm, we are going to see those trophy swamp gators (northerns) become more and more active. Make sure to keep checking back to view updated pics. Also, as June draws near, we start the famous Walleye Dream trip which we have also turned into an Outpost camp this year.

Finally – if you’re interested in a trip we still have limited availability in all month as well as cancellations so stay in touch.
