I have never had or hunted over a food plot, but I am jealous. That looks like a sweet spot. What are you planting

Planning on some sort of mix of forage oats, rye, and brassica mixture…last year was our first year(second technically but first year planted too late and didn’t grow in time)..super fun to see how many deer used it..they kept it grazed down like a putting green…we about doubled the size this year…going to give it a spot spray on Monday to get the stuff that survived…

Our plots have done ok this year. Ground hives didn’t help us out at our north property. Our south land is doing well. Planted Brassica Aug.14 and looking good so far. Lower plots on the property are smaller but still coming in faster then expected.

Hoyt4 – What brand of Brassica did you use? Do you think Sept. 10th would be to late to still plant it ?

We get our seeds from Agassiz seed supply in Eagan MN. That might be too late but still might get leaf’s to go I’m not sure what you would get for bulbs that late.

Kind of what I though. I’ll have to keep these in mind for next season. We have a small food plot that we want to put something in that will last until the muzzleloader season. Seems like the corn and soybeans get eaten off so early in the year and there is nothing left to draw the deer into the Muzzleloader season in late Nov. into Dec. This may be a good option.

It’s great for late season. They us all winter long and dig the heck out of them to get them up. I also mix clover in with this.Deer dig under the snow for greens. The turnips and radishes and jumbo ladino clover have been a great mix for us.

Just put my last couple winter rye spots down yesterday…never planted it before…looking forward to seeing what happens…my other plot planted a few weeks ago is looking pretty good considering not much rain and heavy grazing already…
